What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Looks and sounds great,I do like a white Fx especially with the black enhancements.
The sound is nice,I was wondering what a rear box delete with just just straight pipes would be like. I'm very tempted now!
Do you have a pic of the underside. Sorry to be a pain!!

Lol, no worries, I can snap one today. The shop charged me $200, to fab it all, with tips I brought with me. They were 2.25" in. And 4" out.

Took them 45m and I was on my way.

Got the rails off, without breaking the covers, and plastidipped them, and the grill.

But, after driving around without the rails on, while I waited for them to dry..... I realized, I am for sure going railless.... The FX just looks so much more sporty, and the rails really ruin the lines for me, on the white at least.

With the rails, I think of this horrid hair style:

So... the rails were promptly stowed away in storage, all fresh and clean.

My Sharkfin antenna should be here today, too. Can't wait to be rid of the R/C car look.

Sweet. Exhaust looks nice and straight forward. How easy removing the grille?
Sorry but you've become my go to guy for questions lol!

The grill was a lot easier than I expected. You just pop off the 3 covers in the engine bay, then you can reach behind the grill with ease, and remove the 5 nutz. After that, there are 4 or 5 clips, just depress them, and slide it right off.

Looks good Zackai. What did you use to cover the rail holes?

For the moment, I cut to size blue painters tape, and double layered it....

But I am going to seal the holes by taking small cardboard cutouts, pressing them into the holes, adding some clear silicone sealant, and pulling them up against the inside of the body.

Then, once the sealant cures, and assuming that the vinyl sample I ordered is a near enough match to the paint, I will vinyl over the holes with small 3 1/2" strips.

Just did the first one:

I don't mind you being able to notice up close, as all of the other options I have seen, are more apparent, and I want the option to put the rails back on if I need them later.

Finished up the holes, now to let them fully cure over night.

Installed these 22 inch Niche wheels. With 265/40 22 michelin LTX. I like the look, although a darker silver would look nicer I think, perhaps a gunmetal or graphite.

Something to note, the 22 in micheln ltx are really loud compared to the mid level winter tires that were on there. It's ridiculously loud. I'm almost considering roating the tires to see if its just one tire that really noisy. the ride hasn't changed too much though, just the road noise.

Do the plugs from the 1st Gen not work on the 2nd Gen?
No clue. Seems that the dealer doesn't sell the caps, and from my web research, aftermarket solutions range from $80 to $200, and are either obscure on if they are the right fitting part, or are big long 1 1/2" wide plastic strips that ring the length of the roof... Which looks ok on black, but not white.

Delete chromes and roof racks

Nice! Pretty much exactly what I'm doing.

You should be able to go to a sign shop, one that has white vinyl on a roll. Get a scrap piece from the end, then cut them to fit over the hole plus 1/2" or so.
Clean it first, and it should stick for as long as you want it to. You'd have to stand right next to the car to even see it.
I like my rails, silver, no cross pieces. Goes with my Chrome wheels. ™

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any that close to me. But in the sun, I feel like regular white would contrast quite a bit. The sample I have coming is white with light gold sparkle, and a 5x1 sheet is only $12.

Also, just realized you are also in Texas. Nice to know there are at least a couple of us in the great ole state.

My sample came in, unfortunately.... Moonlight white, isn't a good shade of white to try and match with vinyl... As my sample was gloss white with gold sparkle, and it's too white and contrasting. Stands out like a sore thumb, so I am going to have to order a bunch of samples and hopefully one of them blends enough that you can't see it from 3+ feet away.

I guess you could drive to the city. One of those vinyl wrap companies,
Or a sign shop that advertises a big variety. Park it by the front door, they'll bring out the sample books., tell us the number when you find out.™

I think I am going to do this, will be about the same cost as ordering a ton of samples, and then ordering a sheet of what ever I find.
