What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Replaced my spark plugs at 82K miles. I decided to go with OEM NGK laser Platinum as I figured I don't look forward to go in there again too soon after 60k if I opted with the iridiums. Infiniti made the coils placement so tight and in darn awkward tight angles. I thought the driver side would be more difficult to replace because of the presence of the CAI. It turns out it was the passenger side plugs are the most difficult to remove. Particularly the last at the backside toward the firewall. I had to purchase last minute a 6" extended socket drive.

While working, I dropped a nut and a 10mm socket. It was a PITA that I had to jack up the car and remove the underbelly splash shield pan.

Good stuff, and I hate working in the tight quarters of the engine compartment. I am a butter fingers and have lost a couple things in the abyss.

This morning it was drizzling out so I kept the FX in the garage and gave it a quick coat of Zaino Z2 Sealant.

Replace the drive belts. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. :smug:

Dealer quoted $160 and a local shop quoted me $129 just to install since I already purchased the belts separately. While I was on it, I decided to clean my K&N cone engine air filter. Saves me some $$. Enough for me to decide to pull the trigger and purchase replacement ballasts for my busted HID fogs ballast.

Refinished my headlights. They were starting to yellow and cloud. Used the 3M refinishing kit and it was pretty straight forward. Sand with 500, 800, 3000. Then polishing compound and finally wax. I'll likely put a new UV clearcoat on next weekend, but overall happy with the results.

Lease was up on the FX so I picked up a Q50. Great car but I miss my FX :( Will definitely get back in a "QX70" when the new model comes out! This forum is waaay better than the infinitiq50.org forum though (cant stand a few of the people there haha!)

Here's the FX:

Thanks guys, a few spots that I'm not happy with, but they're hidden underneath. The complex shape of our lamps make this a fun activity.

Wash, clay, polish, wax and restored with back-to-black. It was the first time using Meguiars Ultimate Polish and Meguiars Ultimate Wax so took a little getting use to. The polish seems like it needed to be applied with thin coats but a little tough to remove. On the other hand, Ultimate Wax was super easy to apply and remove...small amounts go a long way. I threw the wax on everything; windows, window trims, rails, grill, rims, and lights. Took about 6hrs but now its smooth as silk and shines from every angle.
