What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

if you didnt say piston, I would of guess SVHS VCR head for a RCA rebuilt.

excited to see that build thread tim.

Busy last several days with the FX50 with more to come.

1. Installed a new cabin air filter.
2. Changed the oil ;)
3. Finished the new Inverter install (pics below)
4. Finished up the Tablet mount! (look to the last post in my project thread for updated shots https://www.infinitiscene.com/search/1/?q=13906-iPad-mount-quot-project-quot)

Next up for this coming weekend:
1. New rear break pad installation (set of Akabono's)
2. Wire 120v plug to front console and center console for charging. From inverter in the rear.
3. Detail.

Pics of the inverter:

Glovebox mounted switch. Btw, the inverter can run in "on" mode without draining the battery if nothing is connected. There's a very slight draw but if you drive semi frequently it's not an issue. I turn it off usually just in case.

I don't think so

Fog lights are low-mounted lights (bumper level or below) that project light that's cut off at the top. So the light pattern on a good-quality fog light goes straight out at bumper level and down, but not higher than that. The reason for this is that fog tends to hover about 12 to 18 inches off the ground. So by projecting light in that fog-free pocket, you can illuminate the road a greater distance from your car and therefore see farther ahead.

Nice to see some common sense here :) The entire purpose behind fog lights is exactly this. Low mounted so that they impact the ground which makes the road and front areas more visible.

In addition the yellow lights become clearer, or more accurately more "distinguishable" from the white light that is reflecting off the fog ahead.

But they are worthless if not mounted low.

To add to this is another thing people are not thinking about, which is contrast. The "brighter" the light (higher wavelengths vs lower) the less ability we have to perceive contrast. With a white light reflecting off the fog you get a wash out affect. With yellow contrast is better, less wash out, so better contrast which helps to differentiate objects.

So I parked the car at my wife's doctor's office this morning the farthest possible area away from other cars to avoid getting door dings. I came back to see the car like a dalmatian with millions of polka dot from water spray heavy with minerals. I scratched my head when I realized it was the garden automatic water sprinkler probably using water that is recycled from the clinical building. Grrr! and I just had a complete car hand wash the other day.

I end up doing the whole nine yards again. Hand washed the car, did clay bar on hard to remove water spots, applied compound in some areas, prewax gloss and waxed to mirror shine. Took me about 4 hours to do it.

:good: Taking advantage of the lovely weather! I've thought about washing my car, but thats about it.

^ I know the feeling. It seems my car is always dirty here in Houston. Rightfully so with so much miles I am putting into it with the daily commute. I am seriously thinking of getting a separate daily driver.

It should be a great weekend to wash your FX these next few days. I'm going to try to wash mine. It's filthy right now.

^there seems to be a promise of longer days of good weather after that almost daily rainy spells.
