Yep...that's the route....
It starts in Ann Arbor and loud exhaust cruise through Ann Arbor downtown onto Huron River drive and twist and turns along the river going to Hell, MI. It's about a 25 mile cruise - 40 minutes. Very pleasant scenic normal cruise.
Once we get to Hell, MI, we met up in a central location right in Hell. And then basically scenic, hills, turns, etc lap that takes about 10 - 15 minutes for one lap. The central place is where it was great to take pics.
I know what you are thinking....how the hell did you end up going so fast. So here's the scoop....I guess lots of cars get together and do these laps. It is actually a big attraction and probably why cops allow it because it generates revenue...on the other hand, if you do probably more than 2-3 laps and/or obnoxious, then people can call the cops and they will be there waiting in certain spots. The Z club coordinator has done it many times. The BMW M3 guy said he did it 3 times this year with his BMW/Ferrari/Porshe group and has done it 7 times total. Another thing is we went during the Michigan football game because then the roads are much clearer from traffic. We took corners so hard and such that it's sooo important to not do this when it's wet. In fact, we went over several safety items, PSI, etc because the roads are colder and the tires grip the roads a lot less. Some of these guys really push it really really hard and there have been incidents. But yes, these are normal roads and the listed mph in the areas are probably only 45 or 55, in one small spot it gets down to 25, but slow down to 35 in there. We had bikes behind us lapping through on the first lap and some group of mini coopers came after we were done. So it's one of those things where yeah people do it, but yeah you can get caught also if just happens to be one of the those days. Afterwards, we went to eat/drink at an awesome pub by the lake.
In our second lap, there was a lady walking a dog....we passed her going minimum 90, I was 3rd in line and saw her pull out her cell...the others guys behind me saw her talking on the cell giving mean looks....after we finished the lap back in the central place, we decided not to risk another lap thinking she was calling the cops....it's too bad because one of the guys was going to go back and take a moving shots of all the cars driving by, which would had been awesome. Instead just a very shaky video with funny commentary from inside the car.
One of the guys had a go pro...he came from grand rapids. The go pro fell off the car and completely destroyed it after it fell off.
Here is a group shot pick in Hell, MI:

I'm still waiting for one of the guys to post the videos....still nothing yet.
If you guys will be interested in the spring/summer next year, we could always go ourselves, or I could also try to coordinate with the 350/370Z guys to come with us and/or coordinate with the BMW/porsche/ferrari group...I guess that group typically has 20 cars though. After running with these guys with me pushing very hard and knowing they didn't push it as hard as they have other times, makes we want it lowered even more.
