Vibration issue...

okay, so as some of you know.... I bought Shady's Element 22" wheels... I LOVE THEM, BUT, I'm having vibrations mostly between 40-60mph. I called up a wheel shop and told them that I bought some 22s that came off a same car... and now I have vibrations, they told me that most likely a wheel balance should fix the problem... so, this morning, I had'em done, and they're still vibrating :frown: I DO have 15mm/20mm spacers, that I also got from Shady... What do you guys think it is? The wheel balancing today was almost $50, and turned out NOT to be the problem (so, $50 wasted?). I don't wanna keep going around and around trying to figure out the problem (adding up the $$$ spent)... and in the end, something totally overlooked...

any suggestions?

If the wheels are not hubcentric, then they are lugcentric, and prone to possible misalignment at the centers. You can get ring adapters that will line you up properly. I would ask shady about his setup and experience with that issue.

hope you get this issue resolved Ken. Those are some nice wheels.

Funny how we all have FX's, but each FX has it's own personality.

so, Shady just replied back to my PM and said he didn't use any hub rings, cuz it's NOT needed, in fact... it was designed FOR the FX... I guess he worked with ELements on the design of this wheel... He asked me where did I get them balanced... and I told him "Just Tires" around the corner from where I live... and am waiting for his reply...

Do you guys think there's a difference between one place to another? Is that something that takes skills? (in terms of wheels/tire balancing)

Ken, since LMS did the installation I would call them back and tell them the issue. Did they not do the installation?

If those wheels do not need hub-centric rings then I suspect they need to be rebalanced with some weights.

hope this works out for you Ken, i really love those element wheels

I hope so too... cuz I really REALLY like these wheels too... I didn't buy them just because the opportunity was there, but also cuz I LOVE the design... I'm gonna do whatever it takes to make them right (unless, of course I end up spending too much $$$)
