Unichip Installation

Think it's about $525 w/ the standard switch. Aaron @ Unichip was offering a 10% discount a little while ago. Not sure if it still stands...

Maybe we can get a group buy??

Oh yeah, it was 10% discount at autoanything. They are UniChip's largest distributor and Aaron was just matching them (they clearly can't beat their distributor).

Ask for a free USB cable, though Aaron forgets due to his volume of calls.

He was going to send me a dyno for the FX35 and FX45, but he keeps forgetting. He does have them on file though. But it sounds like a one man show.

Let's get four more and get the 20% discount guys...

Yeah, that makes it $525 x .80 = $420. That's AWESOME.

Just so people know, this works on almost ANY car. You just need to get new maps or a different harness to hook up to the ECU.

I call it a nice investment.

I'm down with the Uni GB

Group buy feeler (since 1-4 can get 10% off anyways). Please put year and model and mods so they can get you the right maps:
1. wlvrn97 - 2006 FX35 AWD
2. FX45Chicago - 2005 FX45 AWD (aftermarket intake and exhaust)
3.

UPDATES: Received my USB Download cable and the 5-Way Map Selection Switch from Unichip.
DSC04974.jpg

1) Downloaded and installed the TeamViewer software from Unichip site.
2) Took the Unichip off my car.
3) Hook it up to my laptop via the Unichip USB Download cable.
4) Launch the TeamViewer software.
5) Call Aaron at Unichip. I gave him the User ID and password displayed on TeamViewer.
6) He remote into my laptop and did his magic, lol.

Now I have 5 maps at my finger tips. The 5 maps as following:
1) Immobilize
2) Valet
3) Aggressive with 87 Octane
4) Aggressive with 91 Octane
5) Aggressive with 93 Octane

The first attempt today, the new maps caused CEL and no power to car. Took the chip off the car and hook it back on the laptop. Call him back, left a message and he calls back about 30 minutes later. He remote in and download the maps made for the 350Z. When out for a test drive and notice the car is much more powerful than the previous map that came with the chip originally.

So is there any way to alter the maps yourself? Are you permanently tied to enlisting the help of the Unichip tuners as you described?

No, you can sign a form and get access to their software at a price, maybe a few hundred. To do it right too, you should take their course.

Good thing is once you are a tuner, you can recover costs by charging others for you to custom tune their maps.

Nice.

Always some minor issue but always come through in the end when it counts.

So you think we should move forward with the air fuel ratio meter and other diagnostic tools for a custom custom tune?

It sounded easy enough for Aaron, except loading 350z maps:)

He still hasn't sent me the 2003 FX45 dyno.

Cool Andy....was waiting to see how he did your maps. So he doesn't have any maps specifically for the 35? He had to use the 350Z maps?? Wondering if this will be Ok for our cars in the long run? What do you and Ed think??
I'll be ordering my chip soon and want to use the same maps...

He doesn't have specific map for the 35. I doubt using the 350Z maps would do any harm to our 35 since it that same engine. He emphasize that all he really does is play with at the air and fuel ratio to get a stable map. So far driving with for one day, I do feel that with the 350Z maps, the car accelerates more spirited than the original aggressive map that came with the chip. The exhaust sounds a bit more throatier than the before too. I have not gauge the gas mileage yet. Maybe with the 350Z maps my mileage might be a bit less? I'll keep tab on mileage and will report back when I have enough readings.

Make sure you order the USB Download cable. Since you're order from him directly and provide the maps specs, you won't need the USB cable because he going to load your chip with the maps. The USB cable will comes in handy when you wanted to change your maps in the future.
