turbocad's custom fx

dave, so far this is just a few sets chopped up for mockup... if I do anything like this I may have it done for next spring or so... just a little winter side project

bert, gotta see how these pan out & if I ever wind up getting them done in a way to duplicate, way to soon to say anything about that, & doc, I hear yah, but I can see these working for a while, a lot of options on how these can be configured too, I kinda like this a bit, matches the mirror signals too...

Like the late sixties Mercury Cougar sequential turn signals.....That's cool.

So John, do I drop my name on the list now? Last time I waited on the headlight mod line up and well, I missed it...

Also-I am enjoying the moving thread pics :)

Yes! something like that is what I was talking about. Not just an extension of the stock rear led's. Nice idea John.

adding amber to the stock tail I think it's kinda small for that, removes too much red & looks to crammed in, but widening the whole light area this much makes adding amber a better fit I think...

stu, reverse lights would be built into the rear reflectors, kinda like the Z's turn signals, or I think the ex also has something similar... was something similar I think too with european fog lights built into the reflectors, could easily be reverse lights instead...

John ik remember there are LED's available on www.farnell.com wich have dual allumination so for example they still can run basic red and go amber when you turn your signal lights one. Or do you wanna keep the middle out so you get the idea wich for example the new Audi A6 has....?? Like a ring all around....

About the Reverse lights in the reflectors. Our Japanese friends already have something for that. Here some pics for your info ( probably seen them already but maybe someone else didn't  ) :

hey ray, I think I did see that, but thought they were fogs... don't know why they would add reverse lights there when they already have reverse lights up top... unless now that you mention it, maybe they used the upper reverse sockets as amber turns? but no, they did amber LEDs in the red area? maybe they used the uppers as fogs? either way that's about what I had in mind there... that is if I even keep the stock bumper reflector which I probably won't... still too much not decided yet...

far as dual illumination LEDs, guess that's possible, but finding one that goes red to amber & in the intensity I'd need is a long shot I think... I've seen dual & even tri color LEDs, but red to amber? not sure, haven't searched much yet though... that could be real interesting... if I go with separate segments then I'd probably do something to differentiate the amber area... like that first design is kinda like a spear/hockey stick shape... well maybe I'd do something to accentuate that shape & not just look like all identical holes but with just different leds... kinda like the SLR tails... I would have the spear be noticeable & separate kinda... hard to describe because no definite plans yet, but i see it in my head. what's shown here is not necissarily the final design & look, just a starting point

Found Some Red / Orange combo on the farnell site. These are PLCC-4 Led's wich i think should....unless they are PLCC-2's or something else.

Check out the link:

Not that i want to push you into a certain design buddy.......just wanna be of help

Concerning the Japanese style.....i think your mixing up to stories here......the rear combo red/amber light was made by a european guy as we need amber light indicators in some euro countries to get it road legal.
Maybe the Japanes lights into the reflectors are for fog lights as you say. Don't know

ha, thanks guys but def no genius here, that's for sure... don't believe me? ask my wife

ray, just seen this, those are smd's, we need like 5mm leds for the tails, smds not great for this... I haven't searched much myself for this but I don't think I'm in love with the idea of dual color leds anyway, I think I'd rather have a seperate segment for the turn, thanks for the link though bro

Always welcome buddy.... Good luck with the projekt and talk to you soon.

Cheers :glasses:

John... C'mon... Your killing me with all of these new ideas...

Now I won't be able to join you on this since I don't have any rear reflectors.. Ughgh.. LOL

All I have to say is. I wish I had the time money and skills to do what you do. I went through all 35 pages and was well worth it. Probably hands down, the best FX I have seen yet. I wish I could do something like that to my EX35, damn I would even give it up for sponsorship lol.

Where did you get the part for the Big Screen?

Hi Turbo,

Honestly, my jaw drop to the floor when I saw your post. What you did was pectacular, actually you are one of a kind and your FX is also. Turbo I would love to know what should I do to put in a big screen in 2006 FX35 with Navigation since my FX does not have Navi. Can you guide me in the right direction, like where could I buy the parts, etc. Any advice you be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jose
