turbocad's custom fx

assanti uses good chrome from what I've seen, I have a friend/customer with assantis on his escalade ext for about 4 winters now, they are now starting to look kinda beat but held up very well for the first few years & he hardly ever washes them...

I won't be ruining them, I'll be using them... after a few seasons the chrome may get ruined, but tha's the only thing that would get ruined really, & at that point I'd just refinish the lips... wheels will still be fine for a lot of years & really won't get so much ruined...

yeah, grille is just a temporary grille, I got an 09 grille off ebay & wanted to check size & shape compared to the gutted fx grille shell from the qx56 grille so popped it off... I'l stick the qx grile back on in a few days I guess...

let me tell you, the new 09 grille is a beautiful grille I think, maybe the size & width & down low on the new fx you might not think so, but I think the 09 grille inside of the earlier fx grille shell on a first gen fx is going to be a beautiful look & looks like a nice fit so far from what I'm seeing... the 09 grille is so very wide... it's actually wider than a stock qx56 grille, & that's a pretty huge grille... all trimmed down to fit the first gen fx size it would look hot I think...

Turbo. You have good taste in car cosmetics. Show us some pics when you are done with the 09 grill.:smile:

Those are very nice. requires a BBK, & you have that . . . so it works
BTW, nice pad you got there

Front idea looks great imo John...!! Keeping working that idea.

Do feel the rear also a bit, but you have to see it in total. So loos on the back doesn't give many that full picture in there head i gues.

What always stayed in my head is the rear diffuser of the Mazda RX8. Man love that look and imo it reallly fits in the overal design of the FX.
Check out the pic...

The rear spoiler i think will overdo the whole projekt. Keep it slim and it'll be great....!!

Good luck buddy

Well it was good knowing you guys!! I asked my girl to get intouch with Derek and she didn't !! I will kill her when I get back! Never let a female handle something important!

In the other hand. Good snatch John they look great!!

You just upped the definition of "baller". You not only have to have 3 piece forged summer wheels, but 3 piece forged winter wheels!

Those are good enough to be your summer wheels, but not as "custom" looking as your iForgeds. Are you concerned at all about the salt damage to the lip? I've seen some look like they got belted by a bb gun after a few winters. Owning a body shop, I guess it really can't be that big of a concern for you, more of an excuse to paint them as you mentioned…. =)

Curious to see what all-season tire you go with, I don't think they make winter tires in 22's.

One of those deals you just can't pass up, been there done that – way too many times. I finally reduced my 5 wheel/tire sets down to two =) My wife is very happy I can finally put the Weber Grill back in the garage.

great buy John !

I guess no one wanted these after all. and you got the cash to pay :)

cant wait to see your new grill

I see you are all ready for Halloween (decorations)

john i called you the other day to tell you to buy them haha maybe you got my message? IDK. but they look pretty awesome haha....

message?, what message? :tonguey: bro, I told you, I really tried to push you man, only so much I could do, you shoulda ran down there man, whats a 4 hour drive for a deal like that? I winded up picking them up for $1,400 but he was at only $1,500 on the phone even before I went down there... guy just wanted them gone. the tires are ~ half way dead though & there are some minor blemishes on the chrome too, the assanti center caps are pretty shot, but overall a very decent set at a very good price I'd say  he did already have a deposit from someone else local who was waiting to scrape up the rest of the cash so these things woulda been gone anyway... deals like that don't last.... & johnathan, you too man, they were already gone, was just a matter of weather it was me who got them or whoever the other guy was... sorry guys, I just couldn't resist any longer

hey ray, your right, that valence looks like a good fit in that ps, but the little triangle in the center is maybe a bit to distinctive of the mazda to me & integrated pretty good into that design too... still considering body options really at this point...

haha, doc, love the new avi... my kid just picked up shift, he's already got like 2 million dollars in car funds & I get to drive the super cars once in a while, but he just kicks my but in the thing now, need hours to really get in the groove of a driving game again, but not much time so I just go out & crash a bit & then give him back his controls  don't know what his stat's are, but I know he's got a whole bunch of wins & 0 losses, he won't even let me drive a race cause he doesn't want any losses on his record :embarrassed: if he's not going to win a race he restarts it till he does

dave, thanks for the comp on the pad man, wifey likes to keep things pretty, decorate & plant & stuff, only thing that sucks is not enough garage space, one car garage & I had to choose between parking the fx in the garage or setting it up as a work shop... right now the garage is still a headlight factory mostly so the fx sleeps outside  she won't let me convert the basement into a drive in garage either, I tried but no go there :tonguey:

yeah, chedman, 5 sets huh? guess wheel buying & the fx kinda go togeather huh :err:... right now I got 3 sets of 3 piece wheels, was kinda considering keeping the maya 20's as track wheels, there my lightest set, but may just sell them really now... even if I wind up going through a set of the staggered yokohama advan st tires a bit prematurely by tracking them it'll still wind up being as cost effective as having yet another set of wheels & tires withouit the hassle of swapping wheels to track the fx, so probably just continue to track it on the staggered 22's...

also I measured everything to be able to consider the posibility of swapping the wheel centers from the assanti's to the iforged inner & outter lips, can make a set of staggered 9 1/2" & 11" wheels out of the assanti's too, but the offset is a little different & they would stick out ~1/2" more... lot of complications with that sinerio, maybe a good excuse to do a little custom bodywork & get rid of the wheel well moldings afterall... staggered assanti's with the 315/30 out back would be pretty hot, I've always loved assanti's & they'd probably be my wheel of choice if $ was not a concern, probably choose assanti's over even a set of HRE's even, but then again I really do love the directional iforged center design too so,,, too many things to consider there, probably best to just leave them both as is I think...

in my head the wheels are turning though & smoke is coming out of my ears right now so hard to say how I'll really wind up here, staggered assanti's are not out of the question at this point either, but then the winter wheels would wind up being the iforged centers with the existing assanti lips & they would not fit the same as the assanti's would after, they'd sit inside ~1/2 more than the assanti's as a staggered deal, not looking to use different spacer setup summer to winter... to many possibilities to consider, hmmm:cool:... the cool thing is, having a few sets of 3 piece wheels in the same diameter is like having a lego set, you can swap & interchange the 3 pieces between them & make a different set of wheels if you wanted too...
