turbocad's custom fx

John, I believe the original sketches that Jerome did for Viets widebody had some sort of wing/spoiler in the same spot. I like the direction but I think the overall symmetry and fit will greatly depend on the size and style of the wing.l

gonna be hard to pull off & not look tacky, but I got a picture in my mind that looks good. center mount is through the wiper hole & hidden, side mounts probably hidden too for a floating wing design. may move the center brake light to the wing instead of overhead & then flush out the upper brake light, not sure exactly yet & again, if I don't like the direction it goes then I won't use it...

One of Viets orginal drawings:

Rear Wing, Diffuser, and exhaust exiting through diffuser.

These? ///120

Edit: Doh!!

yeah, I had it curve down towards the center too, but not like that, following the lines of the tailgate kinda... it's all about the lines, a slight difference can be the difference between it looking right & not...

seen viets postings before too, see he went through a lot of similar considerations before he made his choices, see he even considered g bumpers & stuff like I have too. I'm looking to do flexable urethane covers instead of fiberglassing though on mine & keep everything bolt on & seperate pieces. jerome has some real talent with those sketches, I gotta try some sketches of mine too but it's hard to really see the actual scale & fit, it's too easy to just make it fit the way you want in a sketch, the question is can you make it look like that in real life

That sketch would be the direction I would take the rear of my FX should I consider a body kit.

ok, heres a really quick sketch of what I have in mind... if I take my time & really try I'm sure I could do better but did this in 5 minutes, but only got one crappy pencil here with no good eraser & no pencil sharpener & no patience for this right now

here I melted the sides of the diffuser into the bumper more & only using the 2 center fins & the opening, but filling a bit where the exhaust exits... I want aggressive styling without overdoing it to the point of being ricey I guess... I might do some more sketches when I get a chance, helps visualize the curves & stuff

I like that rear with just the two "fins" on the bottom. Ties in with the license plate kinda. Reminds me of the Mercedes ML.

aww man i am drooling john

hopefully when i come back from school in the summer your fx will be completely transformed!!!

loving it it.. stop this torture and get to it john!!!!!

hey john by any chance.. (lol) are you thinking of making a body kit for sale??? cause if you are thinking about that...... well you know the rest of that sentence!! lol

just joking i dont want to put him on the spot like that... more than likely if i dont stop this right now the list will grow in less than 30 minutes..

def a great OEM look bro..

Nice drawing BTW, imagine what you could have done in 6 minutes with a decent pencil and a sharpener.....On Rubare's thought and to NOT get hosed like I did by waiting on the headlights, THINK there will ever come a day you might bust out some rocker panels and front and back bumpers? Must have tons of time on your hands these days....

this would go way beyond the tinkering I do with headlights, paddles & mirrors that I do for you guys as a hobby level side thing. this is going to be hand built kit, one off full custom & done fully in my shop, I could never be able to do something like this without my shop & it would have to be a job actually run through my shop & same one off hand built, so it would be big $$$,

forget mass producing, not even gonna think about that... when I finish it I could give a price maybe to build another but will be expensive really, but my shop could probably do it & it would involve me having your fx for a while too

So you ever consider an extended stay in Seattle? fresh oysters, Dungeness crab.....rain.....wishful thinking? Guess I'll have to keep my hopes up for some custom TC6 headlights someday.

well, I really tried very very very hard to resist these, normally seeing a deal like this I woulda been at this guys doorstep the very next day cash in hand , gotta jump on great deals when the oportunity is there, but I tried very hard to ignore them, wasn't easy at all but I did for a while...

I can't believe these lasted over a week & no one snatched these up. jordan man, I tried to tell you how you should have grabbed these, & then johnathan was also interested but nothing happening there either... these are assanti's man, real deal big $$$ wheels, on par with stuff like HRE's, even better than iforged really. a top quality wheel . hard to do better than these & almost impossible at this price. the guy had another deposit from someone else & they were going to just disapear to someone else so I just couldn't resist anymore guys, I almost feel guilty for snatching them up, but I don't feel too guilty cause I at least gave everyone else first shot & fair warning... I held out for over a week but couldn't hold out any longer & just had to grab that set of assanti's that went up for sale at the org  derek was a great guy & def gave me a great deal on these...

gonna be an awesome winter wheel for me. was going to use the mayas for winter but wasn't looking foward to the less agressive look it would have had in the winter with the 20's, I love the mayas, there a great strong light weight wheel but they don't look as aggressive as the 22's at all, might look a little funny with the body kit really. but now with these assanti's, there a very aggressive offset with my drop & look as good as my summer wheels now, I'll get some nice winter tires for them & now have really nice wheels all year long,....

I think I like the look of these now, understated but pretty too, I like the breaks in the continuous line of the bolts around the lip from the spokes overlapping too, adds a little to the look. I picked these kinda like I picked my mayas, performance & price, like the mayas it took a while seeing the wheel in person to really like the design but chossen primarily for the quality & performance of a lighter weight 3 piece wheel at a steal of a deal, guess it's not that hard to just love almost any assanti really, but these are a nice design i think, fit well with the rest of my fx....

the wheels are in very decent shape, there are a few minor dents on the chrome but nothing horrible at all, no chrome layer damage or rust. nice enough for a winter wheel for sure... when the chrome is done I'll paint the lips, but the chrome is good enough to get a season or 2 out of really, I really like the chrome lip look

the fronts will take a bit of work to get to fit, it'll need a spacer for the brakes to clear, ~10mm or so. may need to open up the center bore on the assanti fronts to work better with a custom spacer. I'm also going to run a 10mm custom spacer on the iforged in the front i think too, it can use a little less offset than it has now really anyway, & then the studs & lugs will all match up fine winter to summer... think i'm good with wheels now for a good loooong time, I hope

front tires need air but I just had to test & measure the front & the rear fitment when I got home:
