Tinting

I have the Graphite Shadow (KAD). they dont make the lip in this color yet, unless u got yours repainted?
The lip won't be made in that color ever because the front lip has been discontinued. The still make them but don't advertise them on the Infiniti website anymore. They don't show it on the accessories page anymore since 2012.By the way 2009-2011 models = platinum graphite and 2012-2013 models = graphite shadow. Two different color codes. PMG's is platinum graphite so it already came in that color for the front lip.

i wonder how close of a match the platinum graphite's lip is to the shadow color. might end up buyin the lip in platinum graphite.

Buy it and see if the color is close, I think it is. Of Its not close enough, then repaint it.

Elaine, you should do the same and go for the lip and the tints. It will be a nice DP.... Double purchase.

I actually had second thoughts about windshield tint. anyone with black interior want to make a video of how it looks inside n out? would be great before this sat.

The darker interior will make the tint darker from the outside. If that's your concern then go with 70-80%, I guarantee that you will regret not going darker.

I'm thinking going 20% on my fronts or shall I just bite the bullet and go 15% instead ??? I'm not planning on anything on my windshields though ..?? TIA

I have 50% 3M crystalline tint on my windshield.

I wouldn't go any darker than that for safety reasons. At night time it makes the headlights appear slightly dimmer on the road because the tint doesn't allow much light through.

By the way when my adjuster came to look at my car last year from the insurance company he noticed the tint and told me that if I were to ever get in an accident at night time I would be f***ed because insurance would blame windshield tint as the reason why I would get into an accident because of the reduced visibility. Just a thought though....and he told me they've been cracking down on it. I've also got tickets for it too my PBA card doesn't help either. A lot of cops have a zero tolerance on tint especially here in NY. I've seen some cops actually make you rip it off the windshield on the spot. But hey it costs a lot of money to look good right??? Hahaha

Here is what I have:

Rear windows and trunk window 20% tint on top of factory tint

Front windows 35% tint

Front windshield 50% tint

My interior is black by the way

I'm not sure. The cops don't measure the windshield because its not suppose to be tinted at all. He just saw my windshield was blacked out and BAM automatic ticket.

Man I'm thinking twice now. My windshield is tinted 35% and the rest of the windows are 5%.

I used to have 5% on my black turbo beetle, and man that's dark. But it looks so nice from outside. Pretty much like black paint. At night I had to drive around with the windows down though cuz it was so dark. Had the car two years and got three tickets for the tint during that time. Didn't have anything on the windshield though.

I would never tint the front windshield, that's just a safety hazard , not to mention the ticket magnet. I have 20% all around the sides, and at night time it gets pretty dark, but it sure looks cool from the outside. :)

with front windshield, is there glare at night with oncoming headlights?

Depends on what tint you use. I had some other tint on my windshield before that had glare. Then when the windshield got cracked and replaced I had 3M crystalline put on and no glare after that. Cheaper tint tends to have some type of distortion to it. Stick with high end tint like 3M, llumar, Suntek, etc and you should be good.
