The Random Question Thread

Quick question guys, I am doing the DINOC interior wrap tonight and I am starting with some of the basic pieces.

I took the shift knob off the car, but I am wondering does the actual strip of aluminum come off?

I feel like it could come off but I am afraid of breaking it...

Is it okay to just pry it off carefully?

Here is how it looks like. Notice the hook under the aluminum strip is broken. Also note I use an exacto knife to cut the middle rubbery part to separate it.

So there is no way of getting it off without breaking that clip?

I'll probably pry it off then superglue that middle portion back down...

EDIT: I got it off lol, and I did even worse than you I broke that top hook. :)

No harm, no foul. Ill wrap the aluminum piece then epoxy it down back onto the shift knob. All the more reason to snag a MOMO shift knob. haha.

If you cut the middle rubbery apart first and then try to work the hook off. You might get it off without breaking it. I glue my back and it been staying in good.

I tie a bunch of rubber band around it to hold for the adhesive to cure.

Same here I just ripped mine out but then replaced it with a piece of chrome molding strip to match the plate and then got another shifter, but the molding still holds strong on the original shifter. It sits on my dresser. :)

Are my headlights Pre or post recall? Gonna go ahead and do the clear lens mod while I'm in here but need to know wether to get TSX-R or FX-R

Im not 100% sure but I think we need a picture of the back side of the projector housing. I do not know how to tell from the front.

THe fxr is discontinued. it is replaced with the tsx lense. If you have the recalled headlights, if just leave it in or else you will have to mess with the shield. To find out if you have pre or post, Post will have a metal bracket that you have to take off to get to the ballast. Thats what i found when i had a set of post and pre's.

Okay so you don't have the extra two little reflector pieces. Unfortunately I cannot find nor remember whether that means they are pre or post recall.

I am sure somebody else will pop in and inform you.

If I was asked to go off the top of my head I seemed to remember the ones without the V pieces to the reflector were post recall... Which means you would need TSX-R lenses.

FX-R Lenses are for Pre-recall. Although people have found out that if you order the wrong set, you can still make them work just as well by playing with the reflectors...
