Hi guys, what a joke!
So I live in Canada, where daytime running lights (DRL) are compulsory.
And yesterday I figured out I don't have them on my car even thought the previous owner has driven it for years in Canada before I bought it. Fortunately no policeman noticed yet.
So I started looking at my options, found a few relays or
DIY I could use, I open the hood to see how I would do it... and I see a DRL relay already there right in front of me!
Then I remember that on the advs, the car had some LED on the top side of the front lights. The vendor removed them before selling the car.
So if there's a relay, why won't the parking/(fake-)DRL lights come up? I follow the cables, everything seems fine, power from here, ignition there, then into the relay then to the parking bulb... And looking at the front headlight, I suddenly get it, why the DRL is not working:
Having the LED DRL installed, the previous owner (or the installer) disliked the parking light and removed them: they removed the bulbs, and they let them drop inside the headlight!
Damn you stupid moron, why not leave them in the glove-box or somewhere more accessible! Oh well, getting the DRL working should be much simpler and cheaper than I thought if the cabling is still good: just getting 2 bulbs for 5$ and installing them
EDIT : it gets better: so no DRL lights (meaning no parking lights, only the night lights were working), and a blown fuse (but it probably blew off today, I 'm pretty sure I've seen the tail lights working properly before, and they were dead). Today I learned a lot about where are the three fuse boxes and how to access them. I'm getting a happy beer right now, and thanks to several pages about where are the light fuses + to Infiniti for having spare fuses in the cabin fuse box.
