Suspension issue?

Please help me to identify the problem. I have a strange knocking sound coming out from the right front wheel. I can only hear it when driving slow(10-15mph) over small bumps. The sound getting worse every day. Thanks in advance.

Guessing here! Strut bearing gone bad. I'm sure you have jacked it up for visual inspection and yank at various suspension components like the strut assembly, the stabilizer link and bar already, lower ball joint. Other then the sound, does the steering feel any difference than before?

On , all I see is a picture

Actually, I don't have a jack. I inspect the strut and spring, seems OK to me(I'm not a specialist in suspension though, what do I need to look for?). Steering feels the same. I'm at 60K, only the outer tie rods have been replaced at this point. I'm not sure what was replaced by previous owner.

PS Can I drive it safely(I'm still saving up for coils)?

It makes the same sound when parked, pushing the fender area down with my hands, trying to shake front of the car.

anyone?

I had a similar issue and after replacing the front strut with no help, ended up that the hood latch was loose and the hood was jumping up and down on one side when I would go over bumps. At higher speed the downforce on the hood prevented it from happening.

The noise is coming from the wheel area, where the strut is mounted. I already fixed the fender bolt issue before. Could it be the strut itself?

Well the strut should not make any noise. They just weaken over time/usage. If the strut bear is shoot to hell, it may have noise. To change the strut bearing is like changing the strut.

Hmm, in this case, if you push on the hood, it should have some movement. Check it out Zebra!

If its the bearing itself(and not the hood latch), is it safe to drive like that for a couple month(till I get my coils)?

Well, if it's the strut bearing, it will cause uneven wear on the tire and the annoying noise. I think it should be safe to drive.

Thanks Andy, I'm just wondering if its a good idea to put coils in December or should I wait till February and constantly rotate tires before I get them(I got free rotation at DT)?

If you have to put coilovers on in December, just spray it with lube like wd40. Oh there is a popular product that many use. I can't remember the name right now.

u may have loose stabilizer end links, stick ur hand throw the wheel and shake the link, if its moving or clunking found the pronlem. You need to tighten the nut
