Veterinarians warn that they are documenting the re-emergence of the dangerous bacterium Leptospira, which can spread from dogs to humans and can cause kidney disease in both.

And I'm the worlds biggest dog lover. (not romantically)

Oh man, look what I started. Jonas, I'll blame you for the Castle rumor, and you can blame me for posting Ozzie making out with his dog.

I like you Tim , but I would have to disagree because wikipedia is not in itself giving an opinion, but providing a compilation of references from not just CDC, but many others.

Pull from one source and you get opinion/fact A
Pull from another source and you get opinion/fact B
Pull from another source and you get opinion/fact C
Go to doctor in Chicago and you get opinion/fact D
Go to doctor in Portland and you get opinion/fact E
Go to oxford medical journal and you get opinion/fact F
Go to american journal of medicine and you get opinion/fact G
Go to centers for disease control (CDC) and you get opinion/fact H

I like to see opinion/facts A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. Not just A. Wikipedia seems to do a good job of that.

The short article from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wound_licking is comprised of 73 references from books, medical/oxford journals, government agency sites, libraries across the world, educational institutions, doctor references, and millions of other respected references.

lol :wink (2):

I like you too. I certainly don't mean this as a personal attack on your decisions or preferences. I just had this conversation with my daughter's pediatrician a couple weeks ago, which is why its on my radar in general.

The "dogs mouths are cleaner" thing is a myth. Challenge: find proof.

The enzyme you referenced is real, but it is minimally effective against infection in general, and is about 1% as effective as washing a wound in water. Its something you do if you're stranded in the jungle with two broken arms and a severed leg, not in lieu of any form of modern medicine.

The Wikipedia article you posted was citing "reports" of wound licking being effective by some random unnamed people. It also mentioned a study by a medical journal that found there is some truth to the idea. Some truth means just that - some. It doesn't mean dog saliva is safe or a preferred medical practice.

Wikipedia can be useful for the reasons you mentioned, but the problem therein lies in the fact that nothing posted on the site is reliable. I checked out the medical journal reference but couldn't find any such dog saliva study. At least the journal is real... That leaves us with a bunch of "reports" by unnamed individuals who may or may not actually exist, posted by some wiki-scientist who may or may not be Stulax18. Nothing against Stu, but he's an engineering student not an accredited team of microbiologists.

Also, Portland has been mid-30's for days without snow. I'm totally miffed.

I signed up on "The Org" a few weeks ago and have been following every thread just to get an idea. I can't help but say that site puts me to sleep. The people are boring and the site is boring....now that I think of it, I'm not sure if I recall if I ever smiled or chuckled reading something there in the past few weeks. Even though we try to stay on topic on iS...reasons like the above where we learn every day and can cause some drama as a byproduct, but never disappoint with helpful individuals teaching each other things about cars, and sometimes......just enough......about anything else.

no snow....RAIN!

This site rocks, as do the members, it's the best.

Mild and dry here on the eastern shore of Lake Huron in my small town.

for the oil question, the car naturally burns oil when you drive hard, also you can check your seals to see if there any leaks, this i believe is standard on all sport vehicles. Other members feel free to chime in.

There was an oil question?

I use my old motor oil to bathe my dog. Gives silky fur. My dog licks himself all day long. When I get home, I make out with my dog. Not a lot, just a little, but I'm sure I injest some motor oil. Then I fell asleep while reading the org, fell off my chair, skinned my arm, and bumped my head. I'm certain that the right combination of motor oil and dog saliva is the key that has healed my wounds.
There can't be more proof than that! I'll add it to Wikipedia.

For the record, none of this is true.
I love my doggies, but keep our tongues to ourselves.
I think Wikipedia is a fantastic "reference" for general info.
And I can't blame my dog for licking himself all day long.

Did my edit disappoint? Okay, I dig the sloppy. Everybody does don't they?

Any tips on TB removal? Those two lower bolts seem hard to get to. I've already gotten the two top ones loosened. I'm hoping to avoid removing the whole upper plenum because I need to swap the TB as quickly as possible.

I think I ran an extension down there. they were tight but after they broke free it was easy going. are you working around the OE box?
