The Random Question Thread

I don't think they carry that stuff. Your best bet to buy it online or ask your local Sign shop for a sample or something.

I went to Auto Zone to look for 3M primer.. they didn't have any.
The rep told me this would work:

I just removed my emblem and sprayed it with this stuff... my emblem is now white for now.
Are the 3M primer and this primer entirely two different things?

Oh no the primer you got is not for wrapping purposes. As Zebra said, the 3M 94 Primer is designed for wrapping purposes. I used it with my interior wraps and it does improve the adhesion where the primer was applied (corners and edges).

I used 3M 94 Primer on my bumpers and emblem. You can easily remove it with alcohol without any residue left.

or goo gone i guess. How long was the vinyl on ur bumper?

also zebra the vinyl thats u used, didnt it already have an adhesive layer?

I usually stay away from primers unless I'm dealing with a really sharp edge/corner. But even then I try to degrease the surface and heat it up to allow the adhesive on the vinyl to stick better. Like Dracula said, I would hate to deal with extra residue and removal work.

The gold chrome vinyl is HARD to wrap on the Mt. Fuji symbol.
I might have to give it to someone to do for me.

Wrapping emblems/trims isn't hard do with the simcarbon fiber wrap I bought from Amazon.
I guess because the carbon fiber is more flexible than the gold chrome.

Vinyl is 4 month old, since full wrap on Labor Day. I used Hexis vinyl, comes with adhesive layer. It's nearly impossible to wrap some pieces without using the Adhesive primer. I posted a really good video above from 3M guy.

PS When my center console was wrapped with 3M Di-Noc(not anymore) I used a primer in some spots. It was really easy to remove it with alcohol after I decided to take off the vinyl 9 month later.
