The Random Question Thread

How do you know if your brakes have seized up or if your wheel bearings have seized up?
I could've sworn my rear bearings were shot, but I did the 12 and 6'o clock rock test and it passed.
When I spin the wheels manually with my hand I can hear clicks and gritty rotations..

Is there another test to try to see if I could distinguish if it's the bearing or the rear brakes?
 
Remove the tire. Remove the brake pads from the caliper. Mount the tire back on and spin it to see if the same noise still there. If noise still there, the hub bearing is bad. If not, most likely the caliper is seized. The caliper piston will be much harder to retract if it is seized.
 
You guys do meet ups in NYC? I would like to see some of ya rides and we can exchange some ideas for our FX's

Can't believe I overlooked such common sense lol, will tackle this tomorrow
 
What are some of the popular tires nowadays? Maybe I'm just stuck with unusual sizes needing 265/50/20 and 295/45/20, but I can't seem to find any in stock that I like with the RH06 seeming hard to find in 265/60. I was thinking the Paradas but they are special order apparently in store at Discount Tire. And their online site is same as the RH06, only the 295/45/20.
 
Proud that I actually did this. But I will definitely get the bearing and hub assembly together next time.

Why dont we have an a35 thread? We really need a dedicated one thats as awesome as IS. I have been here for years and love it. Moved on from my FX35 to a 2012 fully loaded maxima and love it and its power. Just want to represent on a forum thats worthy. We need the info just as much as the FX'S and Q's lol we can expand our boundaries here.

Nice job Nnaji! I'm going to need to do this on my front soon. Driver's front is starting to get loud. I thought it might have been the wheel or brakes, but swapped wheels today and checked the breaks and they look good. Originals lasted 90k miles, not too bad. :)

Yeah, save yourself some time and money by getting the bearing with the hub already pressed

On my 20inch rims I put the tires that the Jeep Grand Cherokee brings, 265/50/20 good year Fortera HL, great traction looks good and no road noise last winter in NYC perfect in the snow and in rain
 
Two questions one post, Anyone have part numbers for the QX70 for the fender turn signals on the European model? Second question what are the triangular things on the front bumper below the headlights?

@RRDorcel might be able to hook you up with part numbers

The triangle-shaped covers are for the front wiper/misters that are required on Euro cars.
