Strut Bearing Broke again

no, not necessarily, I have no way of going backwards in the database too, I tried, but it appears the system thinks that is an attempt at bypassing the security of the program to circumvent an expired password & now I'm locked out:mad.: calling tech support :rofl:
 
tech support is just to get my database up & running again after I tampered with it & locked myself out:tongue (2): I tried to call my boy in infiniti but too late, gotta try to check with him tomorrow...
 
So Dave, aside from satisfying our collective curiosity about the plastic bearing, where does this leave your original problem? You have only used the more typical "ball style" strut bearing right?
 
correct. It doesnt change a damn thing at this point if it wont fit, but al least it will give a reason to blame. Class action anyone?

Count me in on the Class Action, that's $35.66 + shipping I have seating around for nothing :wink:. They're still seal bag from InfinitiPartsUSA.
 
ok, word from my parts guy is just what I figured, this 8j000 is the replacement for the ag000, part has been redesigned & the new part # supersedes the old... according to my guy the old ag000 is either no longer available or at least being phased out & will no longer be available after whatever is available is depleted... it seems nissan redesigned this bearing sometime in 07

now still, at this point, I don't know that we even have any real evidence that the new design isn't any good... it very well may be... usually something like this happens when they improve a design, it's obvious that according to Nissan at least, this new plastic slider bearing is better than the old ball style... that's the only reason they would update then supersede a part like this...

So now I'm curious. If this new part is the direct replacement, why doesnt it look like it will fit?

& why are they still selling the old one when the replacement part has been around for 4 years?
 
Hi guys, after talking to GTO on the phone. I decided to open an account and provide more insight into these 2 bearings. As of right now, 54325-8J000 is not a supercession to 54325-AG000. This part is to be used for all S50's from 04/07 on up. However, the upper strut mount brackets and the front seat springs (where the strut bearing actually sits) are the same for all year S50's. So this tells me that even though they do not directly supercede they can be used. I do not know if this is an improvement over the older AG000 bearing but it may be worth a shot.

I know I told you that the 8J000 wouldn't work, but I decided to do some measuring and the inner diameter where the bearing sits on the seat spring is exactly the same. I hope i've been able to answer your question and concern.

I ask the question again though to the guys. Has anyone tried an actual test fit with the 8J000?
I'm gonna call you back & order a set of those so I'll have both at the breakdown.
 
Got the new strut bearing installed this past weekend. After driving some 50+ miles, the fx's alignment pulls more to the driver's direction on highway. Have to redo alignment next week.

Bad bearing, it's intact but lump-sided. In comparison to the metal bearing, new plastic design is tad smaller in both width and height. The center circumference is the same.

So the new plastic bearing replaces the "metal heavy duty" (not) bearing entirely? The new thingy bearing looks so flimsy.
 
it looks like when the new one brakes it'll will disolved in there.. it doesnt look strong at all.. well Soon let us know how it works for you.. !

I'm still knocking around. I havnt had a chance to get this done yet. Was hoping this week. I have the replacement bearings (old style) in hand. You think I should try the new ones. I would need to order those right away, or I can just install the same thing.
