Weird, I've never seen that style before. They almost look like a ball-elastomeric hybrid or something. Can you pull one of the little modules out of the race? Is it just a lubricated pad or are there balls inside?
What the hell bearings did they send me? If they know what part is what then how'd i end up with this from an infiniti parts dealer.
I got screwed cause i ordered these months ago to prepare to change out the bearings. At that time i had no clue what the bearings looked like. 36 bucks wasted.

I didn't take the chance of installing a bearing i had no clue about. PITA to take it all apart if it was the wrong bearing. It's a plastic ring with raises on it with no bearings. Got some bearings from the bike shop and repacked the original bearings.

Man, I went through this exact issue when I replaced 90% of my suspension parts.
I ordered everything from infinitipartsusa.com and even called them to ensure I had everything to give to my local mechanic.
Low and behold, my mechanic called and said where are the bearings for the struts. I told him, well there is a bag that says bearings on it (that plastic picture ring that everyone is showing), and he said that's not it.
So I had to be out of my car 1 day before he could get the "real" bearing part in. I never asked what part he ordered but he got it from our local Infiniti dealership.
When he took apart my front strut, he did say all the ball bearings starting fall out and that it was definitely spent.
Whatever it is, he definitely put ball bearings back in with the new part b/c he told me.
Maybe they redesigned it due to these failures?
I was also told that the old part number would be listed with the new one if it were a redesign. Is that true?I remember in the past, noticing there was a split, & that newer 1st gens used a different part#, but my data base is updated monthly, & now it only shows the one part #, so maybe the new part # supersedes the old, pretty common... wish I paid more attention to the part #'s back when they did show 2 different ones in my database... now it shows the 8j000 as for all, 03-08???
