Strut Bearing Broke again

An excuse is all I need... One strut bearing gone? Might as well change all 4 corners to coilovers:)

Low and behold, strut bearing is gone again. Going back into the shop to replace. It's been 30k since my last bearing, this is the 3rd time.

Still not sold on pillow ball mounts for street application though (coilovers), especially given how sensitive the steering rack is on the FX. Waiting for you coilover folks to rack up more miles for a long term review.

Going back to OEM springs (thanks Chris), I'm probably the only one to go from H&R's to OEM=) Just need more clearance now so might as well change the strut bearing.

*knock on wood*, I haven't had any issues since the last bearing service. Guess you'll have to get a wheel alignment after going back to stock springs.

yeah man, with a lot of cars it's either lower it, or go with a taller tire profile, which pretty much accomplishes the same thing in a sense. did that on my other car, instead of lowering, I just put a taller tire & visually it does give the same effect as lowering... either one accomplishes the same thing of closing up the gap... both together might be a bit too much

Spot on, much taller tire + H&R's = slammed look. Not really fun for daily driving, I can get by but I have to drive really carefully.

My mechanic just showed me the strut bearing his nissan guy sent him: 54325 ag000 = $59.23 (MSRP) or $44.43 (Infinitipartsonline.com). His price was $46 so cheaper if you include shipping or tax.

Note that's for one strut bearing.

Thanks to GTO, I told him to order 54325 8J000 at $20.80 (MSRP) or $15.60 (infinitpartsusa.com).

Not only is that a total savings (2 strut bearings) of ~$56.66, I have a feeling the plastic strut bearing will last longer.

I'm glad there was all the talk of the smaller size, but that it still fits -- as my mechanic would have questioned putting it in as it is significantly smaller. If you go on infinitipartsusa.com -- it clearly states: "Front suspension - Suspension components - Strut bearing Strut bearing, fx 2003 - 2008".

In summary as everyone has said, BUY 54325 8J000
