Steering wheel shake fixed

Vibration in Steering

i had it tightened (really tightened, prob more than required lol) and still same, smh

If that solution didn't work, you may have someone to look at your front rotors...They could be warped...This causes vibrations in the steering column as well...It appears to happen when the SUV accumulate over 100K miles on it...At least that what occurred on my FX35...

When I had the front rotors changed and while I was at it; I went ahead and had the front wheel bearing changed as well on both front tires...Rides like new again...lol

Hope this helps...

Steering vibration

I hear you man. Over two years I went through having a wheel straightened,Road Force balance, Allignment and still the 50 to 60mph shake persisted. I thought it was my 22" rims because when I ran the stock wheels the shake was gone. But what was really happening was that as the wheel gets wider and the offset is further out any looseness in the steering system is amplified. I was so amazed at how easy this fix was after all this time. A lot of others took theirs into the dealer and they were not able to fix the shake issue. One of the best DIY's ever:tup:

I can't believe this is all it took to take care of the vibration. I even had Yoko give me my money back due to the vibration. Excellent find! I do have a small amount of grease that has worked it's way out...don't know if this will become an issue. I only tightened mine a 1/4 of a turn. Loving the expressway now.

I did this about a week ago, and it totally got rid of the shake. I wish I had came across this earlier, cause I thought it was a warped rotor, which I changed a while back (obviously that didn't work). Anyway, I'm much happier now, thanx for the how-to!

What is causing a slight vibration in the steering wheel when you are sitting perfectly still or in place??? I've just noticed this issue this week...Do you guys and gals think this adjustment mentioned above will stop this slight vibration while sitting still??? I appreciate any advice you can give me...I own 2004 FX35 and I am thinking something is loose somewhere...

Did this fix last weekend and it works! I was resigned earlier to accepting the steering wheel vibration when I get to 60-80mph after doing road force and numerous alignments in the past. Who would have thought a small screw could fix a long time issue. I did 1/2 turn initially and found the steering wheel was too stiff while turning. Loosened it up by 1/4 turn it was perfect afterwards. Thanks for the tip!:top:

Hi I'm new to the site and I have recently purchased 2008 Infiniti FX35 w/ sport package that is CPO. I've noticed the same issue in my car. I was wondering so you have to do this to both sides of the car? Thanks. Loving this car so far!

No need to take off the wheel. Turn the wheels hard right and you will see the bolt. Get a good breaker bar and the 24mm socket and turn till it feels snug. Not tight, just that snug feeling.

to add: you need to keep the steering wheel centered when adjusting. You know how ur car is out of alignment when ur steering wheel is not centered and u have to center the steering wheel inorder to steer straight? well thats what happened to me when i adjusted the bolt my tires were turned all the way and steering wheel was not centered and i had a alignment a day ago.
