Silver Surfer - FX45 :: 2006 Infiniti FX45

Whether it requires Rich swimming the English channel slathered in grease or dancing for internet entertainment I'm sure he will step up. However the visual of Rich preparing himself for such activities will be powerful and may not be appropriate for most audiences. G you need to make the call whether or not Karen can handle a video or Rich lathering up, you have known her for years you two are tight, maybe you two should talk it over before she opens the file. Just saying man, we are all good here on iS but some things cannot be unseen.

Spent 2.5 hours with shop owner, we were limited for time so he allowed me use of the tools while he sliced and diced the exhaust. The new resonator was placed right before the muffler (there is an inline can already in the system from Nismo). I pounded out the H&R studs and replaced them with OE studs then mounted up the 25mm DRM spacers. At the end of both projects we lowered car back down to level before engine work to fit 29.2" tire diameter (same as GTR rubber diameter). Does that makes sense?

Anyway, we adjusted the pre-loads and finished up. Today I had it aligned as it has been acting a bit odd since the "big project". On smooth surfaces it squealed excessively and road bumps over 40 would produce slight wheel hop.

Car is slightly quieter, a big plus for me with regards to company customers and manufacturers. Ride is amazing, tires are a perfect fit for the car and if you are a 21" wheel owner and you want lower sidewalls but still want a quality ride you may want to consider Continental cross contacts, it is still very early but so far these are these are very similar in ride quality and performance to the Hankook RH06's (which I really liked).

Was worried about the look and feel of the 21's over the aggressiveness of the GTR's but the extra 1" of wheel size, lower profile tires and dropping the car back down really doesn't take much away. I am still considering painting the 21's but for now the surfer is just a bit more silver.......Again, really happy with the ride again nice to have the FX back in that way.

Sounds like you enjoyed working on Surfer Lance, a pic with the 21's on the Surfer would be great.

Not a good pic, just a place holder.

I added the tire/wheel image so you can see the lower sidewall on the 265/40/21 more aggressive and the contact patch is still 9.5". Again, the ride is stellar these tires should be added to "the list" for the FX. Although the lower side wall is tight not sure if it gets taller it will rermain as responsive.

Sure sounds like a productive mod day on Surfer.

It was good times Andy, I haven't wrenched for awhile and having killer tools makes it soooo much better.

Also, the spacers I added? I went with 25's but I'm ordering up 35's for the front and 30's for the back (possibly 35/35), these things sit deep.....

Going to have a fire sale soon (I got a lot of FX gear) first up will be the brand new 25mm DRM H&R spacers......

Looking very nice Lance. You're car is getting more badass by the day. So what's next?

Still hoping to see/hear/ride/touch/fart in/hoon/drool on the Surfer in person someday!

Sounds like this will be an epic ride Rich =)

Freeway ride into work was amazing, tires are really made for the car.

Thought for sure someone would rip on me for the wheel switch =) I'm attempting to pick a gunmetal color for the 21's now, still haven't found what I'm looking for.

I know this sounds out there but the FX feels lighter and much more nimble.

That's the color I want to go with , a gunmetal or hyper black, when I take them off for the winter.

I Had the alignment done Sunday, noticed this change Tuesday morning. Probably another 1/2 -3/4 inch down. Easy to adjust for and I'll take care of it when the spacers are swapped out for the 35/30mm's but it was a surprise. Part of me wants flush, part of me like this new unintended tuck......

Hey Lance, I see you're on a Handi spot. Hope the fracture healing good. Anyhow, I personally like the flush looking with the GTRs. Maybe because too much silver?
