Ray's Boost

Dammmmmm that is one sweet looking engine wish I had your budget:rofl:
Iv'e always been partial to blue engines myself when I built my sea doo race motor it was blue and on my chevy motor build I went with Ford blue.

Ok little update..... How difficult can you make things for yourself sometimes....?!

Not much updates on the engine projekt. Still waiting on some final parts and still saving some cash for the build.......that is tranny overhaul.....tune.....VB upgrade.....an all other little things that i will probably have overlooked.

It is hard sitting in my office every day looking at an engine that is finished and ready to go, but i must controle myself as i know i still have to face these costs and it's not like money is growing on my back as well

BUT new development.......i wanted to paint my engine bay......front.....this and that....so me and my buddy who works at a paint shop decided to repaint the whole car. Plan is too go for a different color as well, wich i always had in my head. When doing a repaint like that it is hard to stay at the same color IMO. :tonguey:

So have to have some mystery here i gues for now , otherwise it'll all be old news when finished  so no intell on the color......yet!
I can tell you guys that i am an audi Fan......my prior car was a S4.....have in the FX.....audi RS4 seats.......A4 side mirror blinker.....A4 antenna.....S6 DTRL's......soo the color being from audi as well would be no suprise

On the Boost projekt......i polished the waterhose clamps and mounted 2. I like them very much......totally different then what i have seen before. Love the way the side come over the hose so you cannot see the layers where you cut the hose....all clean..!!

See pic...

So the Build finally started. Car is at the painter right now, worth 5 bucks if you look at it right now but i'll just keep my plan and end result in mind trying to motivate me trough this :err:
Took the Engine and Tranny and and send the Valvebody to Level10. Crossed my fingers all went well cause you know how delicat these things are. Props for DHL.....Netherlands > New Jersey in 1 day delivered
Ordered a thicker oilpan and upgraded oilpump for the tranny from Level10 as well. Should come to mee soon as they are only waiting for the pan, rest is ready to go (see pics).
Working on the wire tuk as i'm writing this. Picking up the rails i lett made tommorow to the the ignition coil wiring etc in.
Some Pics:

So it's clear. No turning back for me now. Full repaint including the engine bay.
Also working on the front.....radiator.....fan shroud. The PWR core isn't that far off from the FX radiator in size but the housing itself is smaller and therefore i had to fill out a cap on the lower side from approx 6 Cm ( 2.4 inches ).
Also the GTM Fanshroud needed some tweaking......pitty though for 650 bucks :frown:.
Pics:

The onces who read my tread on my bodykit or studied my front design well might have noticed the the front spoiler was mounted seperatly on my OEM bumper. When the car was black i didn't had that much of an issue with the rubber strip that was between them filling up the space.
Now with the new color i knew in advance this was going to be an issue so i called a colleque in the bussines and asked him to smooth it all for me......much better.

Also did some shopping this week. Went to goodridge for couplers and hoses. Did my homework a bit but i know you always calculate in your own benefit, but that will come back on you when your there. I took al the stuff i needed couplers for along with me and sorted it all out there.
In the end...........always more then what you hope for or expect

Even though the Kinetix has multi vaccuum ports it still isn't enough for everything i have to connect so ordered the Vibrant Vaccuum block wich i really clean and functional at the same time.

Yeah the GTM shroud fits like dog turd. Have seen 3-4 of them and none bolted right on. Look over the wiring for the fans. Single speed fans so you have to change them a little bit.

Not sure i understand what you mean Viet. Any more intel would be welcome if you remember any cause you drive with it for a while now. Thanks

Do they list this in the product features copy?

What do you mean. That it doesn't fit that well.......i gues they won't as then they would confirm their product isn't 100%
Further this Shroud is noted to fit the 350Z/G35 radiator so not for the FX. But PWR does not have a radiator for the FX as well.

Ok so i decided to show you guys the color i'm going for. Mixed reactions from the people i know so i might as well tell you guys so you can probably eassss a bit into it
This color i liked for many years and always wanted to have a car in that color. I realy doubted and have to say when looking into a color sheet from the painter nowadays......you realy can't choose anymore. So many nice colors......so i sticked with my first choice.
Color name is Audi Nimbus Grey. It is the dark grey that first was introduced on the first Audi TT roadster. now you see this color on other VAG vehicles as well......audi's and also the Lamborghini Galardo Superleggera has this color as well.
It is almost like a Base Coat Color....looks almost Matt but isn't and also even has Mica in it to give a pearl efect.
Depending on the light it's under it becomes dark or light.....see pics.

Further plan is to make it realy Stealth.....so everything wich is chrome now will be wrapped Matt Black......door handles......roof rails......window trim.....door trim.....rear trim......
The head lights will be painted matt black as well and the "Halo's "so to say matching the car color.
Same with the wheels......matt black as they were and front, wich now is polished, will be painted in the car color as well.
Plan is to change out the rear lights for some +06 types .......but like the red also so will decide when the car is ready and i can see it for real.

So no reactions on the paint...??

Got my Rails on tuesday evening. Only the top half but i can now figure out where i need to make the holes in the lower half for the wires to enter the rail.
They are kinda stright IMO so i'll probably ask them to cnc a radius on the sides or something. Onlything is my friend made them deeper on the inside so took more material out....." yeah i thought that would be better then on your drawings so you'll have more room for the wires".......uhhhh i did that so i had more meat in them so i could cnc the corners and make them more smooth :err:
Ohh well we will see how far i can still make them.......

I like the paint but it's hard to get excited about it. It doesn't seem all that unique - it looks a lot like the Infiniti greys offered from the factory. Seems to me if you go through the trouble of painting the whole car you would want something different and it just doesn't look different to me. I think your car looks better in black, but that's just an opinion. Do what makes you happy, man! Maybe it is just the photos and it looks a lot better in person. I'll have to check it out next time I come to visit!

Nice rails! So the purpose of these is just to hide the wires? Also like the Coil on Plug setup you have working - nice! The custom wire hides will really make it look one of a kind in the bay. Great addition.

yeah man, I'm a little unsure on the color too, it's very muted & subdued... kinda reminds me in some ways of flat black, in that it looks sick on an exotic, yet not so much on an average looking car... on an average car it just looks more like it's just waiting for a paint job...

now this grey is no where near as bad as the flat black look, that's for sure, but it is very subtle... then again, with your body kit it may pull off well too, in the end like brad says, go with your gut on this one man, I certainly can't say I hate it or I think it will look bad, just hard to say what the overall impact would be when done.. you gotta go with your vision there bro :) I'm sure if done well it will look good...

^ I agree with this statement wholeheartedly, the color is very "gloss primer style", on something high end maybe it would play out in a shabby chic kind of way. On the FX ehhhhh.

Thanks guys for your honest opinions and like i said i do hear that opinion here and there also. But as you stated i have to do this as i have always kept this color in mind. It is hard too ever do it right for everybody but in the end you'll have to drive it.
Thing is that the dutchies are just not that excentric. Driving around with this bodykit or with big wheels for that matter already give mixed feelings here. Pitty though.....but not that i do this for them......but doing this car in a really outstanding color would be a bit overkill IMO. i wated to keep it in a color wich wasn't trend sensitive.......that after 2 years you would say.......bin there done that like flat colors........great but just too dated and this will be a one time thing......am never gonna do this twice on the FX :wink (2):
In the end i hope i won't be sorry.......just think Apache.....all stealth :ninja:

And brad, i expect you to come and see it yourself :smile (2): And yes the rails are all about the wire tuk. Coil, Nock Sensor and A/C wiring will all run trough there. Will be very clean.

Why dont ya do a photoshop?

Did this for Bert a while back

Honestly i cannot photoshop myself. Have asked something for my engine on the photoshop tread a while ago without any luck. So thought you guys would be too busy for it.
Didn't want to bother anyone as the progress is in full efect right now anyways........still very curious though :wink (2):

Update:

So the car is back from paint. I am happy with it, they realy did a great job. Still strange and even somehwat scary such a big projekt and a totally new color. But i am getting used to it by the day. My vision when it is all done is in my head and it becomes reality by the day :smile (2):
I had the whole headliner out and realy want to do something with it. Couldn't just put that weat color back in, so decided to suede is i'm sure i would always felt sorry about if i haven't done that. And now seeing it i am certain....!!
Choose a dark grey wich fit the car color well ( see pic )
So working on the interior right now. I've Dynamat'ed the whole car....doors...trunk....roof....parts of the floor.and now redoing al the wiring from my previous mods......as i will gain a HKS camp 2 and Haltech in the front i decided to put all the other stuff in the trunk.

Minor setback in the transmission department was the the upgraded oilpump they send me didn't fit. And after some emails and messuring they sent out the right one yesterday. Thing is with international shipping it wil always take quit long again, so have to wait on that.
Did get the Level10 oilpan as well. Much bigger as the oem one with baffles in it as well.

Now just hope i can hit the 450 RWHP marker :wink (2):

Motor is ready so as soon as the tranny is done i can put it in. But working hard right now to get the interior back in and the rest of the car ready before the motor/tranny does.....
