Oil Cooler DIY

Yeah pretty easy job. I cleaned areas with brake cleaner. Tip I picked up from some mechanics when I worked at a Toyota dealership as a porter years ago. My new gasket was black so now I just have to wait and see if it'll drip or be fixed. And if it doesn't. Work I'll do the sealer option.
 
The proper torque setting is 36 ft lbs, right? Just wondering if i went a hair under, if i should put it right on 36 or is it better to just replace.
Thinging about using sealant but would hate to leak again and have to scrqpe it off. Whatcha guys think

Not hard to do. Make sure it is torqued properly and u should be golden. My leak actually turned out to be the oil pressure sensor right next to it. It's plastic / metal and where its pressed together was my problem. Good luck

UPDATE: Did this four years ago with sealant and no leaks still :good:
 
When replacing this gasket, should you replace the oil pressure relief valve?
I heard that when you open the cooler, you must replace it
 
I hadn't heard that didn't change anything other than the o ring no issues at all here.
 
I also only changed the o ring on mine 3 years ago, no problems since.

Just last week my dealer told me my oil cooler was leaking just a little bit. They cleaned it up, which I assume means they just wiped it off with a rag. They said it's fine right now but that they'd keep an eye on it. I asked how much it would be to fix when the time came. $800 to replace it!! Funny how they didn't give me a quote on fixing it, just fully replacing it. I'm not mechanically inclined, but I think I'll try this myself in the near future.
