nav tv help

The switch should be the one to do it. Reverse ground works to switch the second input. So if you weren't to use backup camera, you could add another switch to that blue cable to turn on/off the second input. Might be wrong though..

I installed it today and everything works!

I wired all the wire to ground and will wire the reverse cam wire (blue) to a switch later when I add the camera.

Currently the switch that came with it will toggle between stock video and rear dvd. When the FX is in reverse, the backup cam shows now matter what the switch position is.
I mounted the navtool unit below the arm rest, behind stock rear dvd player.

good little unit and picture is as good as it will get, pretty good IMO.

I played with it a little as well. Wanted to wire the power to the lower panel fuse box but couldn't find a cable to extend so didn't go through with it. So is this what happens when you just plug it in?

- The switch changes between input 1 and stock video?
- The reverse cam goes on whenever you put it in reverse, not depending on the switch?

So if that's the case, it's possible to input two separate video sources (say iphone and a dvd/computer?) without even worrying about the reverse cam..? Pretty excited about it.. Want to test out that video-out app on the iphone.. :.smile:

-yes , add a second switch for vid1 and vi2 (on blue wire to 12v)
-yes

I wired my power to the cig located under clock. I dont use that one at all for other things.

I am waiting on the av cable from ebay so I can connect wifes iphone also ... cant wait.

btw, I located my switch under the center arm rest, above the cup holder.

also for those installing the NAVtool version from ebay,

you must ground all the white wires and GREEN (parking brake) wire for video to come on. This will also allow you to use the suplied switch to toggle between Video1 and stock display.

A switch can be installed to the blue wire (12v) so you can toggle between video1 and video2.

i have the tech package with dvd in the back and navi, so my question is, can i buy this and use the dvd in the rear to watch dvds on my navi screen? also how would i switch the navi screen back and forth from navi to dvd??

yes I have tech package and entertaiment package (rear DVD)
I install this so I can watch the DVDs on the front LCD and also allows me to add a video input if I like.
it comes with a SPST switch to toggle between the nav and DVD. I changed the switch to something nicer looking. Also the stock backup camera will overide all video

i'm looking into doing this navtv/video mod for my car too and after reading all this i'm still kinda confused on which one is best..

i have a navigation system in front with the reverse camera.. no dvd package..

heres how i want it to be..
-able to play dvd (including burned dvds such as dvd-r and rw) on the
front screen..
-plays while i'm driving (not just in park)..
-don't want to interfere with the reverse camera.
-eventually might add ps3 or some other type of media..
-also eventually thinking bout adding more screens in the back..

i know i have to buy a seperate dvd player to actually hook up to the navtv/video.. does anyone have any recomendations on a good dvd-player that'll work with all this?

heres the choices that i was looking at (also mentioned in this thread)

Bump. I have a 05 fx35 with tech package without rear DVD and I want to be able to play DVDs and use my iPhone and keep my stock backup camera with my stock nav. I've read all the post and I am a little confused as to what I need to order to make this work. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
J
