nav tv help

yup.. It's definitely not like the pics. It feels like a solid unit but didn't have a chance to install it yet. JohnMax at the org installs & recommends these all the time so it shouldn't be bad.. The whole thing is plug&play and the harness part is not bare wires as well. It's covered with a bright red casing.. I can take some pics when I'm home if you'd like

I bought the Nav Tool video input box from ebay and will install it soon. I am planning on adding a camera to the front of the FX. maybe no use , but I wanted to make use of the extra video in. The unit is packaged in a nice red metal enclosure and feels sturdy.

Installation seems pretty straight forward, I will report back once I have some time to put this in.

I have a question for Eg3 and anyone who has this unit... where did you mount it? I was thinking I want in accessible so I can do adjustments if needed to the video or input.

here are some phone pics I took today.

I didn't install it yet Alan.. Been trying to find time from the gf & the puppy.. If one is not around, the other is..

I was thinking about behind the radio.. I don't like any partially or fully exposed electronics in my car.. Plus, it's so easy to remove the radio and I won't be using a front camera or anything... Maybe just a computer running cipher, lol..

Does anybody know if they came out with the module that allows you to play dvds while you're driving in the 09FX50 front screen? Who's gonna watch dvds in their car when they're parked? I know it's a safety thing but whatever.

so you can watch a DVD from the front screen now when you are parked?

the above seller sells kits for the 09.

I have an '06 without the tech package but I do have the color screen and backup camera. This has two inputs so it would really be one input for me since I would want to keep my rear cam correct? Or does the rear cam go through the wire harnesses?

Im leaving my rear camera along for now, so it wont change with the input device. But you can if you wanted. Yes a few companies make similar units, some with more inputs and remotes. This is all I needed

So where will you output the video? To another screen? If you're planning on front screen then you will need to plug in the backup camera over there too. Otherwise, it won't show up at all.

the output from the NAVtool will goto the front screen. If I leave the backup cam alone, wont it still work like stock (only in reverese) ?

Merchant... I can watch DVDs on the front screen now as long as I;m in park. I think I need a module to bypass the parking brake so I can watch them in motion.

I don't think it'll support the backup camera right away. I'll have to take a look into it.. In the instructions it says that you'll need to plug in the backup camera's RCA into the NAVTool and connect the blue wire to the reverse input. So I don't think the harness provides that directly.

This is my logic:

Rear cam is on a separate Infiniti module, this feeds the video to the screen. When we add the NAVtool with the harness it interrupts the video signal and allows for aux video input. I believe as long as you are in "regular" mode (showing stock video on screen ie showing a/c radio) then your rear cam comes on when you put the FX in reverse and everything works like stock.

My question is, how does the unit switch from showing dvd on front screen (input1) and stock screen info?
It does have a switch , which I assume is for switching video input? or is the video switch by one of the grounds.

I will have to make time also to get this put in.
