JWT on 35

Not sure if Frank is talking about the internals of the transfer case or the case itself. Cube??? I am pretty sure even an awd can handle some good power properly built.
Case itself... it gets in the way is what I was really getting at, or trying to at least.

As for the weak link in the transmission, I don't really know yet.

as far as tranny, that'll see the same load awd or rwd...& transfer case.... honestly have no idea what it's limits are... hope to not find it's breaking point really:tongue:
Depending on traction from the tires, the AWD tranny can receive a lot more abuse. If you've got 305's on all 4 corners gripping the ground with AWD, a launch might not spin or even chirp the tires, whereas 305's on the rear wheels gripping the ground in RWD, the same launch with the same power as the last scenario would spin them. This would limit the ability to put a stressful launch on the same auto tranny internals as the AWD version.

Throw on drag slicks and all that goes almost completely out the window

yeah, your right, traction will be a determining factor too, less stress when traction is lost... so with that the awd tranny could see more load if the rwd is not hooking where the awd is...

Well for now I still have the same supercharger John has, without the 928motorsports upgrades. It would be very easy to get going again with that now that I have injectors, Walbro fuel pump and UTEC, but as John's post says it's limited to 6.5-7psi. My motor can take MUCH more than that, but my tranny probably can't handle the added torque on a daily basis.

What does your FX dyno at as it stands?

so no one has yet to show some good stats of a reliable AWD fx35 build -
Stock motor with an out-of-the-box TT kit?

I know everyone would love to roll around a solid 350hp fx35 awd, so please do share if you're there!

There's no out-of-the-box AWD kit for FX35 as far as I know.. You have to modify intake (and possibly exhaust) piping on every kit for the 350Z/G35. Superchargers are easier to do but still may need extensive modification (like cutting the body for Vortech)

If the changes are 'minor' why is no one actually mass producing those changes? I'm sure there is a market, and this forum is proof of it, are kit manufacturers just not into boosting SUV?

That's where the issue is.. Not many FX drivers are willing to go FI or have money/guts to go FI. If there was a market, both TurboCad's and FXLR8's superchargers would be gone by now simply.. Plus, if someone is interested in a JWT TT for his AWD FX for instance, it's both easy (they use pre-fab intake tubing) and profitable (they'll ask for more labor hours) for them to do it "custom". To be clear, I'm not saying installing a JWT kit on an AWD is easy. It's just that it doesn't require any major modifications like a custom oil pan, custom plenum etc.. It will still cost you dearly but it's not that hard for a pro shop to do it.

Well, lets keep this simple. Some may say the market is there, I say it is not. Want and willing to go forward with it are 2 different things. I have plenty of things on my FX that don't "fit", it doesn't stop me. If you really want something it's not going to stop you either.

If anyone here has 8k for an installed kit it's not an issue to make it work, it was an easy thing for JWT to adapt the piping for my FX. It just took 1 person willing to do it. There have been 3 TT FXs so far, I've only seen 1 JWT TT on a G35x, I think the Greddy TT M35 from Sema 08 is an AWD drivetrain.

^^^ I agree, don't make all that much difference if it's a straight bolt on, or if it's an existing kit that needs minor mods... either way, if your willing to spend the $$$ then it's available, so in my book it IS available right now, IF your willing to do it, don't see where direct bolt on or not makes all that much difference really...

also, doesn't jim wolf now make a modified kit as a direct install to the fx? coulda sworn VTR told me that...

There is a FX kit from JWT, the dealer just needs to ask for it. The piping change from the G/Z kit is the turbo outlet pipe lengths, and the use of a 350z intercooler.

This is much like coil overs. Some want it, some just want to see if it's available, some would want it for the right price. Return on investment is going to be needed for any manufacturer to make something specific to the FXs, and when it's a lot more than a spring lengths and STB widths and brackets and hood clearance is the market really there?

I've been wanting to supercharge my truck since I got it 13 years ago, never did though.
I keep telling myself, some day. With as many miles as it has now i'd be better off swapping it for a semi builtup V6. I think subconsiously I want it to break down so I can have an excuse.

Speaking of GTM. My office is in Rancho Cucamonga and I happen to drive by GTM quite a bit when I go into the office. I have noticed that the front door of GTM, which is completely a glass door has been boarded up for the last 2 months. I wonder when they will fix it =)
