Most kits will use some form of a piggy back for fuel and timing. Even an Fcon is considered a piggy back because it does not do every single function pertaining to the motor functions.
Some of the lower priced and lower function piggy backs are split second, and unichip.
Middle ground piggy backs are fconis, utec
Upper ground piggy backs are fcon vpro, I think the Haltech is a piggy back as well.
The upper ones do a whole lot more than the middle and lower ones but idle and drive by wire I believe are still done by the stock ecu.
With our autos I think it is a bit more work to do a full motor and tranny swap. Technosquare did a 6mt conversion to a M35 but this used a 350z 6mt ecu and will not have the creature comforts it started with. G/Zs have the option of doing 6mt conversion but they can borrow from ecus within their own model line.
