Jumbo's custom turbo build

Are you keeping the exhaust the same? How will that be routed, since don't single turbo's run a single exhaust optimally?

Right now I have the stock cats and Stillen dual cat-back. The turbo exhaust will be split into a custom y-pipe routed to each cat. This allows me to keep the stock cat & O2 sensors, or swap out for aftermarket cats.

CJ Motorsports fuel system kit arrived at the shop, motor machine work completes this Saturday. Photos of the tear down coming soon...

The end result will, without a doubt, definitely be worth the wait and the money spent. Looking forward to seeing more of the progress made.

Yeah - I'm looking forward to posting an before/after engine bay photo.

Talking with the installer, we decided to add in the pathfinder cooling modification. This is a cast pipe & fittings that route coolant to the rear cylinders. The Nissan Pathfinder uses these additional parts to address the engine towing load. In my case, it's just "cheap" insurance for my built motor.

I expect to be posting photos of the new motor and the teardown early next week.

Today I stopped by Powerfab with my camera to check out the longblock and the teardown. Snapped a few photos and felt like a kid in a candy shop and I'm sure I had a dumb-ass grin on my face the whole time.

The long block is on a stand, covered:

And the unveiling:

Yeah - that's MY motor! Kick ass.

This fresh motor is going going to be mounted in my FX before the end of the week. I can't even describe how bad I want to drive this car. I have a bunch more photos of the teardown but I figured this new motor deserved it's own post.

:biggrin::laugh:

Can't wait to see this done! If I'm in Austin at UpRev over the summer, I may just have to swing through Houston, too.

Thanks all - yeah, I'm pretty psyched up.

Ok, here's the tear down - motor and tranny have been dropped and I have a small box of parts that won't be re-used. Think I need to piece together a garage sale type of "for sale" thread with a ton of parts on a table - pick something and make an offer! Got lots of OEM stuff I know will just take up space in my garage.

Anway, I took a lot of photos. Here's some of them:
