Jbaker1121's FX50 updates and photo thread

So my battery died again. Car wouldn't start. Quick jump solved it this time but this is the third time it's happened while up here in Buffalo…. it really does not like the cold weather.
I think the battery is a couple years old, so maybe it's time to get a new one?

My friend recommended the "gold top" battery from auto zone/advanced because of it's high cold crank amps and power levels ~$160

I guess that will be this week's project after my final on thursday.

I was going to get one last year after it was dead after 2 weeks of sitting here over winter break, but then it lasted.
probably due for a new one anyway...

your battery is shot. There is a cold crank test that I'm sure your battery is failing and the fact that it went dead already a few times make it even worse.

Threw a gold top duralast in today… it was nice to get my hands dirty after a while. Has more cold cranking amps than factory, and it's new. Lost my radio settings and seat settings, along with my remote start (when the remote start module loses power you have to physically reprogram it)

Obvi not a big deal, but the remote start needs to be reprogramed which I don't know how to do myself and my car won't be back home until the summer fro the guys who installed it to do it. whatever. Atleast my car shouldn't die in the cold now.

Wow, you need to "reprogram" the remote starter? What do you have. That's seems pretty inconvenience. I can understand to reprogram for other options/feature, but sounds like you can't even remote start the car without reprogram and that just not good.

I'm not sure which I have - the dealer had it put in for me. I just tried to remote start it and it didn't work. Called the place that installed it and they said that if I replaced the battery it needs to be reprogramed, which can only be done by physically getting to the unit itself (to press a button?) aka take dash apart.
The one I have uses the factory key fob.

i'm going to change my battery by december cause i don;t think my baby can last too long. it's looking real suspect especially since the weather is dropping.

Bought new stainless steel radio/hvac knobs from GlobeCLK. Did the install today. I like the look of them a lot. Adds just enough contrast in the dark control area, and matches the other silver/ss parts around the cabin. Def recommended.

Thanks guys. yeah I like that it's a subtle change but kind of ties in the interior a little better. never was a fan of the cheap plastic knobs.

I forgot how bad those 2009 seat warmer knobs looked and felt. I would change that out. One of the best mods I did.

I forgot about those. I've been wanting to redo that cluster because I hate the random "gap" in the middle. Which knobs did you use? I would def want to switch those out
