I guess the factory aero kit wasn't actually made to withstand high speed driving for long periods of time...

Drove to boston and back last week; on the way back, on the highway, while doing around 90, the front lip came off of the car, went under the car, and out the back. I drove back around to go pick it up.
I did not hit anything; I did not hit anything the day before nor did I ever hit anything in the front so there is no reason for me to believe that something was wrong with it. it just came off the car while I was driving.
Upon inspection after I got home: the mounting points on the lip itself all broke and the body glue on the two parts connecting the top portion did nothing to save it.

I'm starting a new thread in case anybody else has problems with the OEM kit.
This was bought + installed at an Infiniti dealer but they will not replace it under any sort of warranty because it's been around a year since they put it on.

replacement cost is $700 installed. I've ordered a new one and it should be in next week. I will be working on making additions to the lip in order for it to be more supported and less likely to fall off again...that will be updated in the new thread.

Plus, to make my week worse, I found a dent above the rear driver quarter panel window aka pain in the ass area to fix.

This is a great week after screwing up my painted wheels with a strong tire cleaner a few weeks ago.

I must have soiled my good car karma....

I've seen dealerships to many times cut corners with installs especially when it has to do with screws. My guess is that they didn't use all the screws OR they didn't tighten enough. I recall some of the screws for the front aero lip with a pain in the ass to get tightened correctly...especially the ones attaching to the belly pan. I actually specifically remember considering not installing them since it was such a pain, but now I'm glad I did.

I'm not sure how long your road trips are. Mine are typically 500+ miles over the weekend every few weeks going from Detroit to Chicago and back. I average 85, sometimes hitting as high as 110. However, I wonder if any screws are loose....I will check the next time I have a chance.

I agree with Jonas , there are about 4 bolts that go right through it and they should hold it on, there is also those screws that go through the little brackets on the belly pan, I could see these small brackets possibly breaking but those other through bolts should hold it. I drove all the way across North Ameriaca a couple of times and mine was fine.

I go with, it was poorly installed.

Maybe the same bird that had a shit party on your dash loosened the fastener screws on your lip. I'd find that bird and kick his ass, he obviously has it out for you.

The Same bird that did this on Thursday night:

Got a nice bolt in my tire thursday night driving to manhattan. It held air until I was driving to work the next morning - dropped down in PSI at such a rate that I arrived at the service station the moment it went completely flat.
Have a plug in it now, but my tires are pretty low anyway so I ordered a new set. Should be in within the next few weeks.

Also my fog light just went out - time for that too.

I don't get what's up with my car the past few weeks.

Yikes, all this bad luck has to end sometime soon! There's only so much that can go wrong: aero-kit ripped off at high speeds, bird crap all over the dashboard, flat tire, and a busted fog light! Your luck is bound to change!

Dropped the 50 off at the dealer saturday... getting a new front Aero lip, new set of tires, oil change, and a full detail and polish. When I get it back, I'm respraying the wheels in a similar but more metallic color.

just picked up a new Nikon D3100 (so now I have a decent camera again and can stop using my iphone) and will be taking good pics, and will finally post a good exhaust video ;)

Stay tuned friends.

Nice, the autospa treatment. I need to do both of those things too, my cameras sux. Lookn forward to the vid and pics.

Just as I was planning to do photo and video shoot, another problem emerges:
I can't go into DS mode or use the paddle shifters. It will only shift into D, and if I move the shifter over to the DS mode, it moves over but the car stays in only D and not DS, nor can I use the paddle shifters.

Dropped the car of saturday at the dealer...again... and should have it back tomorrow with new shifter sensors installed...

I also ordered some goodies that will be in thursday and should be installed this weekend or next week ;) stay tuned.
