IBA on or off?

I beg to differ. It is way more intrusive than that. I have allowed it to kick in and I am FAR from hitting anything. I can see the value in the technology; maybe I just need to be a little more patient with it?

You are referring to DCA (Distance control assist), which is different. If you don't like this, hold it down for > 4 seconds and it will deactivate and then next time you start your car or whatever, by default it will be off. Very simple. By default, my DCA is off, your's must had been set to on by the previous owner if yours isn't new.

this is LDW, which is different all together.

"LDW" is pretty cool really. This will bring the car back into the lane right? I have played with that; I like the warning and not so much the activation of the brakes to bring the car back into the lane. With that said, I have not fallen asleep at the wheel.........EVER!

LDP
LDW
DCA
IBA
FCW
ICC
VDC
and I'm sure more, all very cool.

LDW is different than LDP

LDW - lane departure warning just warns you (activate/deactivate on bottom left)
LDP - lane departure prevention applies brakes on side to pull you into the lane. (activate/deactivate on steering wheel)

My LDW is always on, LDP is almost never on....for me.

Thanks for all the feedback and advice, I realize I have to learn all these techy details of the car. I am kind of "old school".........throttle control, counter steering, trail braking and overall hands on to keep it all in line and on track ;) And all of my track experience is on two wheels (for the most part). Whole other game when on two wheels!

All this technology yet Infiniti still fails to include a McDonalds fry holder in the car. I was actually thinking about buying one online :smug:

And blind monitoring system for our 2nd gen FXs....that one really pisses me off, especially with how bad the blind spots are. 80% of the time, I turn on the turn signal, wait 3 seconds, turn slowly, and pray.

lol me too! I come off the highway with the yield signs and can't see crap out of the passenger side. Even with my mirrors adjusted it's a pain in the ass. It's the back chunky c pillar area. I just quickly glance, pray, pull out, and pray some more. One of these days I'm going to get it though....

Nothing ever beats a good diligent over should look (or two or three)! I agree with the blind spots completely. The little blind spot stick on mirrors on the bottom outside corner of the side view mirrors work amazing; just have to lean to use utilize them. Probably the best three bucks you will spend!

Yeah but you lose 5 hp with those on.

I agree with the giant blind spot on our cars... It was bad on my old 1st gen but feel it's worse on the 2nd gen. I keep my Passenger side mirror pushed out as far as it will go, and have the driver side mirror adjusted so I can just see the body on my side with my face pressed up against the driver side window. This gets rid of the blind spot, and makes it so as soon as a car behind in the next lane over starts to get out of the side mirror, it starts to show up in the rearview mirror. I also added some convex mirrors to see 2 lanes over and double check my blind spot.

As for the DCA and IBA, I usually keep them on to act as a safety net when driving, especially in heavy traffic. If I want to do some aggressive driving I turn it off though cuz it gets annoying. It's just nice to have to know that there's an extra pair of eyes on the road ahead although it's not foolproof.
