I see BLUE!!!!

Andrew Acree did the work, I'm not trying to lead this on like I did all the work. He's out of Texas so I had to send him the parts which worked out well since my FX is at the audio shop chillin. I don't know the exact details of what's done, I can solder pretty well but was not going to take something like this on with my own stuff. I have had an extra orange display for a while now.

If would be cool to be able to get enough parts together to do a core swap for anyone wanting to do this but buying the stuff new would be expensive. You have to be willing to take your interior apart or know somewhere reasonable to do it. I am still amazed at how well our interiors snap back together.

I don't mind driving arround with a gutted FX if I know the end results will be that good....

Can you PM his contact info and see what I can work out with him or do we go through you...

Just would be nice to explore the option and prepare for the actual cost of it.

I will keep you all posted once it's completed. I still need to send him the trip/reset buttons on the left of the cluster as well as the led for the ignition ring. Once he knows all the pieces that could/would be done he will be able to work up a pricing sheet. For the 06+ and tech packages the radio controls can be converted. Does anyone have a picture of the 06+ main cluster? I can't remember if it had much amber in it.

For the 03-05 instrument cluster the needles have to be pulled so they need to be recalibrated once they are reassembled, which has not been tested yet. Not trying to hog this or stop anyone from getting it done as well. Would like to make sure it's as complete as possible for anyone wanting to do it. also have to verse Andrew in tech non tech 03-05 06+ lingo. :6wink:

Got the cluster back, and relocated my oem display up top like I've been meaning to do foever!

Here's the maplight housing Competition Soundworks modified for me. Pre-paint, it's painted DG to go with the headliner.

Moving that thing up there took me hours and hours. 16 wires to be extended, 2 3 conductor shielded cables.

If anyone has ever taken the screen apart, it doesn't really fit up there in that mounting orientation. I had to solder to the backside of the white connector pins, and than cut the connector and pins off. Kinda hack job, was absolutely expecting to have to redo part of it from the get go but it worked the first time.

Mounted my new Alpine monitor in the oem location too, just need to wire it up and we be set.

Wow Viet I have to say that the mod came out looking fantastic! I'm luving the BLUE!!!
That's how I envision my interior =). Post final pictures up of the new alpine screen too.

That's neat. Seems like you lost the sunglass holder?
Thatks like my fav compartment.
Does it feel natural to view all the way up there?

Another ambitious rookie job.

Man i want, i want! This is exactly what I've been thinking about the last week or so. It looks so much better in blue. Too bad there wasnt a 'Blue Interior Lighting for Dummies' book we could all buy.

This came out great, love the blue over the orange. I know how painful it is to night drive and see that (no info) orange screen, kind of embarrassing. I would trade the sunglass holder for the moved screen any day.

Seeing the out come of rookie going blue is just mind blowing. I was sooooo impressed buy how good this came out. I would say it looks better than if the car came from the factory already with the blue gauges. His now relocated stock info screen in blue is unbelievable and can truly be appreciated buy those that have the non tech orange screen.....like me. I haven't stop thinking about it since Saturday.
