HOW TO: Changing Transmission Fluid

What are your thoughts on the necessity of changing transmission fluid? My dealer is trying to get me to do it on my FX but I have family in the auto industry that basically say you'll have fewer problems if you never touch the transmission oil.
 
Actually the oil gets contaminated and heats up those platic or rubber parts in the transmission, which will wear it out, i would change it every 50k

So, what if you do more than 6quarts and sacrifice the extra quarts for the sake of washing out the old trans fluid completely? Thoughts?
 
sorry i didn't make my point clear,
partsgeek.com has matic J available and that's where I buy my oil from.
Matic S is compatible with both old and new gen nissan cars so nissan
stopped making matic J. J or S, both nissan mgf, so it's all good.
 
Any answer to this fellow's question? If there is indeed a drain plug (i dunno i haven't looked but that's how I changed the tranny oil on my other car) why using the small hose and have the car running?? Also, the drain plug for Tranny is usually "magnetic" so it can capture any of the debris coming off from the tranny, and it's supposed to be cleaned while changing the fluid too (but again I'm only speaking from the experience on my other car).

Also, flush-fill vs drain-fill, does "flush-fill" require the car running also?? I really don't like the idea of having the car running while we are working on it, but maybe that is how FX is designed?

Anyone know why the transmission has to be running? I see there is a drain plug on the transmission oil pan. Isn't it easier and cleaner to just drop the drain plug? Here is a pic.

o~ Didn't know we had a tranny drainage bolt. I do the drain and fill method on my other cars by just draining and refilling. I have been doing this by unbolting the belly belly pan and refilling. I have never ran the engine and let it drain out the way it is suggested on this. Both cars work perfectly fine.

Has anyone done the flush through the drainage bolt?

Some feed back will be great.
