Got into another accident today :'-(

Ouch, if this falls into the "he said /she said" accident. You might have to get this repaired under your own insurance first. And then the insurance companies will battle it out. At least no one got hurt, good luck with the repairs.
Sorry to hear this. Soonster is right just turn it in to your insurance and let their lawyers deal with it. Not sure about your state but here in California you have the right to take your car to the repair shop of your choice. Some insurance company's offer incentives if you use their approved repair shops like offering a lifetime guarantee on body work and paint.

Sorry to hear about that accident Aaron. Glad to hear you are alright. Get the insurance lawyers to earn their pay and have your car be repaired the way how you wanted it.

Aaron dont replace the door, the value of the car will drop. I dont undersrand why u worried? contact ur insurance, this is why we have insurance. Just contact ur insurance, its about 1k damage. So report it asap. Did you have any witnesses?

I have a question will my insurance go up if their insurance refuses to pay for it and my insurance has to end up covering it.

By the way what do bodyshops mean when they say "we work with your insurance company"??? Everytime I've ever been into an accident I take it to the insurance adjuster which in her case is Geico and they give me an estimate of what they think it should cost to repair it then they give me a check.

I thought that's the bodyshops job to give an estimate.

If it's a moving violation, which this was, it would raise your insurance if it's your fault and in some states even if it's not your fault since in no fault states your insurance pays for the damages no matter typically.

I'm hoping they don't low ball me.

I have to call the police station in the morning to give my case number and then they will tell me what day to come and pick up the report.

Dunno about NY, but in Cali, it's the 51/49 rule, or something like that. Whoever's at fault by that 1 percent, takes the total blame. If it's not your fault, your insurance rate do not get dinged, but if it it were, you could expect a rate increase. Yield means exactly that. She needs to wait for all cars to clear, either lane. There is no law saying you couldnt make a lane change. She hit you . . end of story, so keep to yours. Good luck!

Another thing Aaron....did you or her get a ticket? usually the person at fault decided by the officer is the one that gets a ticket and that usually has strong substance in court. If he doesn't know then he could end up not giving either of you tickets or both of you tickets. I suspect since she didn't yield, she got a ticket and you didn't, which in that case it's going to be easy for you and your insurance company to get the other insurance to pay.

sorry to hear that, bro, but am glad to hear you're ok.

I have a question will my insurance go up if their insurance refuses to pay for it and my insurance has to end up covering it.

as much as possible try to take it to a dealer recommended shop. in my experience, it's usually the shop that deals with the insurance adjuster-- coz you don't wanna be low balled and end up paying out of pocket. just give them a copy of the police report & your insurance policy # and they'll take care of everything for you. "who's paying for it?" would be settled between insurance companies.

More reason I need to get dash cam. Then in this situation it would proof you did not switch lane.

good to hear your safe from the accident but emotionally it sucks because we try our best to take car of our babies (fx) to then have some idiot just come and hit you. To make it worse now she saying you are at fault what a bitch! I hope you get everything worked out in your favour. I would definitley try to get a new door if possible. Best of luck with this shitty situation.

Thank you guys and you are right it could of been much worse and I could of been hurt. Someone is watching over me :smile (2):

It is the sad truth we put too much love and care into our rides and someone has to go ruin it for us. The lady didn't even know what a yield sign is. Out of all the accidents I've been in this is the worst one by far in terms of damage. I don't even want to drive the car right now cause it hurts me to look at it in this condition.

I got a call from her insurance this morning asking me a whole bunch of questions. They asked if I'm going to make the claim with their insurance or mine. Of coarse theirs! :at-wits-end:

The report from the cops will be ready tomorrow. I just called a few minutes ago. I also found out that my passenger side door wasnt just hit. She also scraped my front driver door. Now that's two panels that need repainting :at-wits-end::disapointed:

You pick the shop. Both Insurances will do a job estimate. You go with the one that looks best for you & pays quickly to the shop. Subrogation betwn the two insurers happens later & your company will get paid back. See that your deductible also gets waived. They'll recover that too.

I hope I do get to pick the shop so I make sure it gets done right.

I just called my insurance now and I'm really upset. Their telling me even though the woman was wrong about ignoring the yield sign I was suppose to be a good driver and slow down or stop to let her out because of her ignorance. And because of the situation the costs may not be covered 100%. Am I understanding something wrong here? This woman ran the yield sign!! My insurance is basically telling me the only thing left to save my ass is that the cops rule in favor on my side when I get the police report this week.

And now they will be doing some kind of investigation. What is wrong with progressive. Let's just say I I did stop to let out of of the exit to get on the service road with me, I COULDN'T stop. She was already at my back end behind me and hit me on the back side of the door. It's not like I could slow down to let her out if she was already behind me and not in front of me.
