Got into another accident today :'-(

Insurance does matter. People usually just go for the cheapest rates not realizing what you are in for until you need them. I can't be anymore satisfied with AAA. Some of my coworkers have had multiple accidents and no rate hikes. Once (yes I know it's ridiculous) he drove his car through his garage. AAA paid for it no question. Never had increase. Good insurance companies will protect their people.

I don't know how Insurance works in your state Fire, but from experience, regardless of where you are in North America, as soon as you make a claim, your rates will be jacked up, regardless if it was your fault or not.

It would have been best to offer the bologna granny to pay for whatever damage she did to your car and scare her lights out by saying her insurance will double next year or something similar.

On my previous FX I had someone hit my car in the parking lot, it had to go thru insurance because damage was around $5K , the only reason the did not jack up my rates was because I had the "1st accident forgivness" policy (for which you pay extra of course) but you can bet your ass any next claim I make they will nail my rates big time.

Another thing, when I was trading in my 2010 FX for a 2012 , the $6K Damage reported to insurance and showing up on Carproof did not help me in getting a good deal either on my trade in :(

Just wanted to give an update on how this is going:

Basically my car has been over at the body shop for like a week and a half already. Its a bodyshop that paints exotics and what not their working on a RR Ghost right now and a ton of other exotics and luxury cars. I don't know if anyone has heard of them on here but their name is Martino Auto Concepts in Glen Cove. Their suppose to be one of only 8 body shops in the U.S certified by Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, and Mercedes to be working on their cars. I got a tour of the shop and they have like 4 state of the art paint spray booths and machines costing up to millions of dollars. I've seen their work and it's something only a perfectionist would want. Absolutely amazing!

http://www.martinoautoconcepts.com/home.html

Even though my FX has been there for over a week no body work has been done to it yet. The adjuster came last week from the ladies insurance company (Geico) to come and look at it and take pictures. They called me up and basically said their only paying 20% of the cost to repair it.I basically said f*** you. FINALLY my insurance is going to be on my side and I claimed through my insurance. Since its her fault like the police report states they will pay for the repairs and then later sue Geico for the money back.

Total damages estimates from what I read from the insurance and Martino Auto Concepts is $5,122 to restraighten my door back and repaint both front doors and replace all the plastic moldings. They have this really expensive machines that measures all the body lines on the car and restores it back to normal without the need of using Bondo. They actually never use Bondo there. After the machine fixes it they have this "poly" stuff that goes where the repair was and then it primed and painted. Truly state of the art stuff!

They are also going to repaint the Infiniti Scratch Shield paint too. I brought in the Infiniti TSB about the clear coat, and their going to call up PPG that manufactuers the CeramiClear paint clear coat to make sure all the OEM standards are met to repair it back to the way it was.

Ofcoarse you know all of this cool stuff comes at a high price. Since the plastic moldings will cost like $500 to replace, that means just to fix and repaint the doors alone is $4,600. People weren't kidding when they said this place was the best but very high in prices. But hey I don't care my insurance is paying and I may end up not having to pay my deductible too.

By the way I should have my car back in 2 weeks

Crazy that's a grip of $ but as long as your not paying 4 it, it's all good. I bet you miss your fx already.

that's a ridiculously high bill for the damages you had shown,.. check your next insurance premium cost, insurance companies wont let these kinda claims slide.

Yeah it's alot of $$$ but hey I'm not paying anything :smile (2):. I guess you pay a premium for top notch work. Their facility and equipment is something that I've never seen before. Alot of the bodyshops I've been to I've never seen those machines there. I checked out some work they did and you know how I'm OCD about stuff and I couldn't find one flaw. That RR Ghost their working on their doing like $8K in body upgrades on it and they had a Lambo green BMW M3 there they installed methanol injection on.

Their also a sponsor on the bimmer forums and they set up weekly cruise nights with a whole bunch of other luxury and exotics cars. There's a meet coming up on the 9th for diabetes cure sponsored by them and I'm thinking about going to it if I get my car back.

I forgot to mention it's not just the doors there doing. My rear rocker panel suffered damage too behind the moldings so you have to factor those costs in. Insurance already knows how much it costs.

Things needing fixed:

repaint front door
repaint rear door
repaint rocker panel
replace rear fender molding
replace side sill molding

+different fees for ordering the scratchshield paint, checking rear alignment, checking suspension, etc, etc. Insurance company even sent me a letter saying this is the amount it costs.

MAC is awesome. you picked a great body shop. All the long island e90post members go there...and the results are beautiful!

Every time I read this thread title I think you got into another accident. Any chance for upgrades while it is in the shop?

You know what to tell you the truth I've thought about that lol. I may have them order the aero kit side sills and have them put on instead of the old black plastic side sills. Since mine were damaged why pay for new original side sills when I can get the rest of the aero kit! :)

I agree with the other comments, order the aero kit sills. That way even you have more to look forward too, when you FX is (healed) fixed
Good luck with everything.

I should check. When I ordered the front lip it took 2 days to get.

Damn just checked out the pricing for the sideskirts and it's $1K :(

For that amount I could buy BC coils. The original black plastic side skirts are only $450.

Is that the best price you could find? Think about it, price as-is: $550 difference, that is your actual cost. If you go back later it will be 1K, no one will want your OE skirts. Love the upgrade option....I say don't miss the opportunity =)

I've always found cops and insurance require details in convincing. And a lot of times you have to keep bugging them over and over again before they budge. They will say no at first to everyone, but if you're a pain in the ass and persistent, talk to the adjusters supervisor etc, they will budge.

I would keep pestering them with the pictures indicating that her tire tread hit your side, and the direction her wheel was pointing. make up diagrams etc. where you were, where she was. the more stuff you have, the better off you are.

Also theoretically her admitting fault to you is admissible as evidence, though hard to prove.

Also wonder if there is a way to look up her history. Seems like this isn't the first time that woman has hit someone, and then denied her fault. There are also people who purposely get into accidents, and some insurance companies have fraud teams that will look into catching people.

As far as upgrades, If you can have the insurance cover part of the upgrade, and its something you want, might as well do it. Like Logan said its 550 for the part now, not 1000.

Agree with this thought. Not sure how it works, do you drive and dump daily video each day? it would be an amazing tool. Dealing with an issue now that would have been quickly resolved with a video.

I have the torque app, which has a track recorder plugin. Not sure if the free one had the track recorder, but it may. And if you have an obd2 dongle you can also store car engine data. It will use gps info from your phone to overlay a map on the video if you want too.

I used a windshield suction mount like this one, though I broke it so need to get another one. This one works better than the ones with an articulating arm, since the arm ones wobble a lot. only down side is you probably want to re stick it every time you use it since its not very powerful in the suction.

Or you could suction mount a goPro for a wide view.

You could also start a traffic vlog commenting on poor driving in your area.
