G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

I'll own the issue on the axle length conversation...I was discussing my 10.5" GT-R wheel fitment issues with both Ed and John and that's how the length issue/rumor started.

After repeated test fits on my part, I had my FX at the shop for an UPREV tune and the tech test fit a rear wheel under load, of course we did not roll the wheel to allow it to camber in as I had no rubber mounted up (I was clueless to the need of the suspension to pull in as it moved) I then asked an Infiniti tech and a "knowledgeable" parts manager who said that the parts were different numbers and that the hubs were thicker on the 45's based on the V8 torque.......He said that the beefier hub axle combination could easily increase the overall axle length by 1 1/2" - 2".

PITA and a learning experience for me. Resolution came just recently form an IS member/FX owner who is the Fitment Guru at a Discount tire and said that's all BS and that he's seen wheels/tires pull in 1 1/4"'s in some cases once mounted and after they have rolled.

All good. I can tell you without a doubt an AWD or RWD 35 use the same axles in the rear.

A 45 diff output flange which mates to the axles is different than a 35. The diameter is of the flange where the axle meets the diff is larger. I have pcs and info in this thread. ///1104&highlight=axle+flange

Don't know for sure the length difference between a 35 and a 45.

not infiniti text but in case you change your mind to the akebono

Thanks for the link, I was actually reading that thread last night. Kind of sucks how their forum gives you this message after reading a couple pages:

Now I am torn between the akebono and infiniti decal again.

+1 on piecing it together, have to spread out the expense.
maybe take this jpeg and have a sign shop cut some out. You can even get the negetive and paint it like turbo  (get me some)

yeah, I'd stencil it over a decal... anyone with a plotter should be able to make you anything you want cut from vinyl as a mask, just about any sign guy really...

here's a good comparison:

What do you guys think about this color? Cast iron engine enamel, not sure if I want to keep it or try another color.

I like it. It's subtle, but should also pop against your all black wheels, depending on how the rotors look with it.

not a bad color scheme, got some pearl in it too. cool lookin stencil, going forward on that idea?

In the dark it just looks flat gray though, the infinitiscene is just a watermark. I am either going to use an akebono or the infiniti stencil.

Your 2 color theme makes it difficult to find a good color to match with, but that color is perfect imo. It is nice and subtle but at the same time it looks more than stock.

jeff, did you buy it through infinitiparts?

Im going to pick mine up from Riverside Infiniti, they list them on ebay for less (229)...
still thinking of what kind of rotors I want (oem, slotted, D/S)

I think that titainium grey look would look really nice on your fx... I'd have a hard time picturing any kind of color on it really, probably best choice is anywhere from a smokey silver all the way up to just black or anywhere on the scale between the 2. that looks like a good choice, not too light yet not too dark, I like it

i think the color its self is nice.

Me personally i'd like a bit more contrast something that pops and says BBK! subraru did it a while back with their lateral links and other suspension components on the sti in pink so why not a color unexpected...i'm not saying pink but a color that stands out or maybe a color match of some future coil overs????
