G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

guys, it's not such a big deal for me to do this really, were talking about buying & selling parts here, it's part of what I do on a daily basis anyway in my business. even painting them, again, part of what I do in my business daily, just tell my painter what color I want them  so I can accommodate this easily enough, there is no fabrication aside from what has already been fabricated, if I don't do this group buy then my fabrication goes to waste anyway & yeah, I do have about $800 worth of ball joint adapters sitting under my desk too, be nice to be able to get rid of some of them too:wink:

I do appreciate the sentiments & concerns though. just want it to be known that I never set out to make any money or be a middleman in these things from the beginning, my involvement in the forums is for personal enjoyment & as a hobby, not business. even the little things I do for some like mirrors & headlights & stuff, that's more hobby than business, more about me sharing what I enjoy with others than about making profit, I just collect enough to cover my expenses & time.... I'm not here just to try & make money off of anyone really, but then again I'm not bill gates that can afford to just give stuff away freely either, so I have to charge just enough to cover my time & expenses...

I will be calling Joe & make a deal to set up this group buy. I'll update more after that conversation, my end goal is to get you guys the best price too & have a win/win for all involved. I'll probably run this through my business internally as were going to be talking about large sums of money here too... I'll update when I have more info... the more who want this the better the price will be for all, so if/when I do an official group buy I'll extend this to the org too for most discount...

I'm already buying a set form you this summer after I work for a couple of weeks I think:wub: we shall see

Hmm...I read through most of this thread the other night but cannot remember the answer. Will the rears essentially be bolt-on (with a few new parts) given the part you had machined?

I might be interested in this in a few months.

Just to give you a feel for the interest. I'm very interested in this bbk. I'm actually holding on to some extra cash to see how this plays out.

just spoke to joe from infinitipartsusa, he's in agreement with me that this may be the best way to get these out to you guys, he's happy that I can work with him in helping get this done & he's going to get me prices tommorow. his problem is like what was said all along, this is not just straight foward parts & that's it, between the bolt issues, the cutting of the brake line bolts, the special adapters required, just not something he has the manpower or the time to deal with to put togeather, supply & support, were going to work togeather to bring these to you guys, joes a nice guy & I know all along he did really want to get this done, but too much headaches for him to deal with... he passed it off to justin but he's got his hands full with his G & Z crowd, budget cuts haven't helped the manpower issues on his end either, so I'll wind up doing this myself.... updates as I have them

alright, been back & forth with joe on this, basically for me to buy & then distribute it'll wind up costing you guys more than if you just bought it yourself from infinitipartsusa. by the time there shipped to me, then shipped to you, add paypal fee's & stuff... like I said, I'm not looking to make money on you guys for no reason

I'm going to have a complete parts list & pricing for you to order everything direct without me in the middle, I can then just sell you the modified brake bolts if it's just fronts your doing or even show you how to do it yourselves, & I can sell you just the few non stock parts you'll need for the rear conversion... bottom line is, the complete front & rear complete setup is going to wind up costing around ~$2,500 give or take a few $$$ one way or the other... so for ~ the price of just a front bbk you can do all 4

prices are approx. a little under $900 fronts & ~ $1,600 rears... the rears by themselves are killer, but they also make the complete package so appealing too... it's not that I don't want to do this, it's just that it makes no sense for me to do this & have it cost you guys more than it has too, it's expensive enough already:smile:

my rear kit will include the balljoint adaptor, 8 bolts for the hub & a replacement balljoint nut, my rear kit cost should be around $80 or so. the brake line bolts should be cheap enough too but don't know the exact cost yet... be aware that without my kit these things are unusable as sold by infiniti, which is the main reason joe hasn't even atempted to distribute or sell these really, so he'll make the big sale & I'l do the support thing on my end, just because... glad to help out a fellow fx'er:smile:...

All coming along very nicely John. I know we all appreciate your efforts in getting this mod off the drawing board and into a reality!

i plan on doing this a little later on this year (btw - i did go off on the pool cue already). when you get the final pricing for your rear kit, i'd be happy to buy one from you early and then just get the rest later on.

i know it's not about the money for you, but, with the time and energy and $ you've put in so far, it'll help a little bit. plus it gives you more room lol.

I'm so on this... Those stock wrap around calipers are booty-licious :tonguey:

Got a question: looks like I'll be needing wheel spacers in order for my wheels to clear the fronts. Should I be looking at spacers for the FX50, instead of FX35 (if there are any differences)? I checked H&R's web site and they don't have spacers listed for the FX50. Since I only need 5mm-10mm, I plan to get the replacement studs.

if u have the 1st gen fx, it's confirmed that u'll need the 15mm spacers (fronts), rears are good as is (unless u want a flush match).

Just don't get Ichiba V2 or anything similar. They won't fit to stockers without cutting studs and they might not fit many aftermarket wheels as well.. I switched back to 15mm regular Ichiba spacers after trying (and failing on) both 15mm and 20mm Ichiba V2. Good that there's a good market for those on my350z.com or g35driver.com

guys, he's got aftermarket wheels, so clearance needs are different for him

latest news here is, since I'm not going to distribute these, joe wants to buy install kits from me to sell with his packages. I need to pull one of my rear hub bolts to confirm the length so I can order a bunch of them & complete my whole package. haven't ever gotten the final corrected pdfs to list everything here yet but if I don't have it in a day or two I'll manually copy everything here..

Yeah, like Turbocad6 said I do have aftermarket wheels. That's why I only need 5mm-10mm of clearance. I was looking at the Ichiba V1, which replaces the studs. I will be getting spacers for both front & rear. Considering I have AWD, I want to keep the front & rear the same. Since EG3 has the fronts and spacers, that confirms the FX35 spacers will work. Turbocad6 is checking the length the studs needed for the rears. This might mean the studs that come with the Ichiba V1 spacers might not be the right length?
