G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

oh shit, yeah, the template :laugh:

ok, well print it, don't let it fit to page or scale to fit or anything, if it says some cropping will occur that's fine, it won't crop the center template. the idea is to keep the scale intact & not let printing it resize it in any way

once it's printed, the text up side will be for the right side. the word bracket would point to the caliper bracket, this template goes to the caliper at a little above or right around the center, the word caliper should face the caliper & the word wheel should face the wheel.

if your wheel clears this template held in this position then it should clear the bbk, if it doesn't, then with the template still in place, rub/mark the edge that overlaps the rim so you can measure how much add'l clearance you need, you can actually see the rub mark from the oe wheel that I did, how I determined 15mm minimum was necissary & it turned out to be on the money...

^^ That's about 35mm space between the caliper and the wheel right? I think it'll be a close call. From what I've measured on my stockers before & after, The space required would be about 40mm. Still, Turbo should chime in about the template... He knows better.
 
Hey John, you needed a 03-05 for a test fix. I'm heading home tommorow. Let me know when do you want me to pass by to get this done and help provide clear answers to those 03-05 fx owners that want to get this brakes install.
 
the template goes to the caliper right where the tape measurer is touching it in the first & second photos, at about that level, close to the center of the caliper

No problem John.. I'll be there Friday afternoon.. Around 3pm hopefully.. It all depend on traffic.. And will be there till Sunday morning..
 
I don't know why joe, & then the new guy from infinitiparts don't want to put a kit togeather,I did all that I could to try & help them develop a kit, but nothing has come of it.I never had any intentions of being a wholesale supplier of these, but it looks like if I don't put something togeather here you guys are all just missing out on these brakes & it sucks, cause there great. I've had them for so many months now that I forget how crappy the stockers are till I drive one again & then remember, these are just so much better...


I'm going to call joe from infinitipartsusa & get a price for a quantity of 5,and a quantity of 10,& see what I can put togeather as a group buy for these.I will do the bolt mods & supply the adaptors & stuff, can even offer custom colors easily enough if they wind up going to me first,then out to you.


This was not what I had in mind to have to do here, but so many are wanting these & looking to me to help, at this. Point I think this is the only way that I can make this happen.

Thanks for even considering trying to run this group buy by yourself. You just never stop helping the FX community!
 
You have given a lot to this community already. Don't beat yourself up over it if its just not possible. I'm sure nobody is holding you to make this happen on your own.
 
Really don't know what you say. Turbo you have contribute so much to the community. Take it easy man. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.:.smile:
 
You can put me down for the group buy. Worst comes to worst, I will just do the fronts and paint the rears silver to match. Thanks for the inspiration Turbo. You really are the man.

Just want to clarify that Turbo invested in the rear big brake kit the most by having the custom parts made -- so it would help if IS members got the full kit or rears only (that is if Turbo decides to roll out the kit). Or else he'll have some really expensive paper weights =)

I'm not flaming your comment, just wanted to point that out.
 
DO IT already! :wub: (of course if it's not a hassle), it's been over 1 year I believe. :confused:
 
I am totally down with the full kit. I just wanted turbo to know it is A'OK with me if the rears never happen. After reading through his post it seems he takes on an awful lot of responsibility. I didn't want to pile on the pressure.
 
turbo have some thick skin. imo, he's robomodder and no hard feelings if anything. speak up if u want him to proceed, I'm calling and pm'ing him daily :laugh: . hmm... BBK!

as for the rears, I read that he has a bunch of rear BJ (ball joint) adaptors already. right?!?
