Faded Window Trim Repair

Yep, still OK, not perfect. You can easily wrap them without removing, I think. Removed them only, because I was doing the full car wrap. I bought 2 rolls 60" x 12" (10 sq/ft total), got some leftovers left

That looks pretty good. But Bumper Black is the only thing I've ever found that is permanent. It's easy to apply too and it don't streak or anything. If you get it on your hands or your paint it washes right off with soap and water, even after it dries. The only thing is they don't sell it in stores. You have to buy it from their website.

Saw your post, the reason that trim doesn't shine and won't ever shine is that the black is like a rubber vinyl coating over the two windows. It's not painted and I found out the hard way what is under that rubber/vinyl like material. On my 04 FX it's beautiful chrome trim!!!!!!!!!!

The trim over the opera windows is black plastic material, no chrome under them which is why they stay shiny.

Not following what you're telling. A picture worth a thousand words.
There have been one or two people who have posted that underneath the OEM black window trim is actually a chrome finish. They state that by peeling off the top vinyl layer from the factory will expose this. It hasn't been widely confirmed or debunked yet though.

The black vinyl on my trim started peeling and this is what I found under it (I put a magnet to all the trims and they stuck on too).IMG_1085_zps5b07fa40.jpg[/IMG]):

Yep this is all exactly correct. Under the black trim over the front and rear door windows is chrome, at least for mine. Under the rear side window is is straight plastic. Learned this because mine was peeling so I peeled it all off and had it painted gloss black.

It seems like the pre-2006 models have the chrome under the vinyl side window trim except on the rear pillar windows which is plastic under the vinyl, whereas the 06 and newer FXs does not. However, I thought the 06 and newer FXs have chrome window trim exposed already on the side windows. I have a question, is the lower trim a chrome finish as well as the upper window trim under the vinyl?

How do you take them off/put them back on?

I thought the 45's had the chrome trim and the 35's it was an add on?
