Dash Bubbling

When I purchased my Extended - I was under the impression that it covers everything the OEM warranty did, just extended.

I think I'll be getting the extended warranty when mine is up. I just want to make sure there aren't any fine print problems with coverage for this part.

Dash Bubbles

Guys, thanks for info. But, this just happen to me and after I take it to the dealer. Is the best preventative a sunshade? Don't want to change now and have it happen again.

From most of the posts and pictures ive seen, everyone seems to have the bubbling around the vents or nav screen, but mine is starting to bubble around the speaker grills on the top part of the dash. Minor ones around all three. I have an extended Infiniti warranty too, so hopefully replacing it wont be an issue on my '03 35.

I do not think a sunshade will help. It is heat related and I do not think a sunshade reduces heat enough for it to make a difference.

My '05 FX35 had the bubbled dash around the driver's AC vent and above the nav screen. I am paranoid my '06 will get it as well but so far so good.

i got a 2004 fx35 still have no problems with the dash . i recently tinted my windshield n bought a sun shade after i saw this thread lol . kinda got paranoid it will happen in the future . if anything i found the dashboard online for like 550 bucks brand new. if mine starts bubbling real bad il definitly buy it and install myself . i dont think i got warranty anymore

Where did you find a dash for that price?

Wow had the same problem. Bought my 05' fx45 back in December of 08'. I was in Iraq at the time and found it online at a used car dealership back at home, which was Maryland at the time. The price... 22,900 with 29,658 miles... Weird huh. I got it. Turns out the dash was bubbled. I got lucky though. The previous owner tried to get the proble fixed while it was under warranty. My car went out of warranty this January but I had the previous record to back me up. The guy brought the car in to get looked at but they never changed it. When I got home I called Infiniti Consumer Services.... Big freaking problem with them. No help at all. Best bet is to call the dealership and speak to them. I would be best to drive into one. And check and see if the previous owner complained about the bubbling and if so it should be no hassle from the dealership. They just have to get higher approval to do the job. If that doesn work... Its about a 985$ job with labor included. Good luck

The bubbling comes from the defective adhesive that nissan used when manufacturing the dash boards. Its between the foam and the top layer that we see. Heat can also accelerate the process. It will only get worse. Effects most 04 and 05 models.

Only heard of problems with black dashboards. Everyone else is safe!:.smile:

I also have a 04 Black interior with bubbles on the dash in several areas. We're talking about the top, flat surface of the dash only - the softer foam-like material that surrounds the dash speakers. The black plastic part of my dash that surrounds the air vents/display consoles is fine - no cosmetic issues. I mention that because I have seen some photos on here about the plastic part of the dash bubbling.

I'm WAY out of warranty and I'm having upholstery repair done this week, so I asked the shop to price out a custom fabric cover for the dash. Should get pricing tomorrow, but as long as it is a LOT less than the $985 for a stock replacement, I'm going for it.

It'll be a couple weeks before I can pick her up and take some photos for posting, but I'll get there...

Has anyone had a dash replacement denied while the car is under warranty? I'm actually about to pull the trigger on an '07 FX45 and I saw that it had pretty severe dash bubbling. At first the sales guy told me it was probably due to the previous owner using a harsh cleaner. Then I pointed out that out of the 20 used FX's on the lot, 4 had dash bubbles. After that, he went to the service dept and confirmed that it would be under warranty. But I'm still a bit hesitant as basically I have to buy the car first then file the claim. I don't want to pick up the car and then have a claim denied for some random reason.

I wouldn't worry about getting it done under warranty.

as them if they fix the "problem" and if it will happen again. On our FX we had a Clear Ceramic tint installed on the front windshield ... hopefully that will help block out some heat and UV.

Have them fix it before you pick it up.. Say you will buy it only if this has been fixed..or put it under the terms of the purchase. This will be fixed by the service dept on such and such a date.

No dealer should have a problem fixing this under warranty. There is too many bubbled dashes out there.

They told me the reason they didn't have them fixed before purchase was that it was much easier for a customer to make the warranty claim than the dealer. I'm probably going to make them put it in writing as a part of the deal. The other issue is that I can't really wait on them to fix it before I pick it up. My IS350 was totalled a few days ago and so I'm short a car. At least after purchase, I get a loaner car while the dash is getting repaired.

Other than the dash bubbling problem, the car is exactly what I want and FX45's aren't really in high supply around here. Thanks for everyone's help.
