Big "A" Detailing : Shop Update for 6/22/10

i apologize to anyone whose car i cant get to this week. im booking appointments for Monday June 28th & for the rest of next week. if there is a car show or a meet that you want your car done up for please let me know 2 weeks in advance so i can schedule you in.

since 2001 ive asked my customers to give me 1 or 2 days notice for when you want to bring your car in. ive never been a fan of same day service but next day & the day after next was fine for many many years up until now.

when i say the shop is booked up im not talking about having 1 or 2 cars each day. weve grown really fast in the last couple of years, so much that there are 2 full time workers here + 2 part timers whenever i need them. i still work with the guys every day but im less on the floor & more on the computer & the phone now just trying my best to keep track of all the private messages, emails & phone calls.

all the machine compounding & polishing is still 100% done by me & thats the way it will always be.

i like to stay in touch with everyone through the forums.
its my way of letting you all know that i am always on top of everything that goes on here.

if you called me over the weekend while i was away, i already called you back. if you didn't answer your phone i made sure to leave a voice message.

i still have some private messages that i have to reply back to. i promise ill get to every single one of them by the end of tonight.

thank you all for keeping the shop always busy & passing along the shop name & number.

heres a few before pics taken of a black Mercedes CLK that was dropped off a few days ago.
this is my first customer from Deleware. look for a writeup to be posted, i have no idea when though. tonight if all goes as planned ill start cutting the clear coat under the halogen lights.

hahaa, yea im jumping the gun... never had my car detailed yet... somewhere on your thread you mentioned to turbocad you would get his ride ready for the winter so i thought theres stuff you can coat the car to better seal during the harsh winter/snow???

jumping the gun? more like your way late for the winter that just pased & your car is most likely in desperate need of a serious detail lol. do i really have to explain a winter prep? thats depressing man. warm weather is here & i dont want to think about old man winter for a long time!
lets try this..

what does your car need? how is the paint? when was the last time you had her waxed? polished? can we take it from there instead of discussing a depressing winter prep? lol

Andrew you made that benz look hella dirty, you better do a good job. can't wait to see the results.

lol i took the pics before i washed her. btwy, i washed the car twice already & clay barred once with a red agressive clay magic clay bar. this car is really nasty. i would guess the customer hasnt washed her in at least 4 months, maybe more. i think there might be some salt dust still on the surface but im not sure if thats still possible but it looks like it lol.

i did half the hood before i went home tonight & it came out looking sick. the paint is swirl & scratch free. the clear coat is deep & shines like a wet vagina. the only thing is there are tons of rock chips. this car has over 125,000 on the clock.

so i got half the hood done, yay for me.

04 G35 Turbonetics 6MT sedan medium correction 26 pix

6mt is really nice for the G, combine that with a Turbonetics Turbo installed by Vinny Ten Racing & youve got one of the hottest G sedans in the area.

i need a tripod badly!. i took the pics with a limited amount of time so some of them are a little blury. =(

as much as i wanted to do a full writeup, with the tight schedule i just didn't have the extra time to take before & during pics. ned had to break out before 10pm road construction began on the highway. he makes the trip into queens a few times a year for an exterior detail. hes located about 20 mins into the bronx.

ned told me about the shows hes going to attend this weekend on kind of a short notice. i was able to squeeze him in when a customer canceled a multiple day clear coat correction job. i found time for one of my favorite G35 sedans late at night. ned always does this to me, makes me work late & under the gun but hes so easy to deal with that i really dont mind. he seems to always be in a cool & relaxed mood lol.

i took his car in on wed afternoon around 7pm so i can start on it thu morning. from about 1pm & all the way straight till about 11pm i machine compounded the G under 1000 watts of halogen lighting. i took a few short breaks for lunch & dinner. i sat down to watch the NBA draft preview for a little bit as well. this is where having the dish in the shop comes up big lol. i wasn't going home that night until i got all of the machine compounding done. at least i didn't miss the draft!

i sent ned a few late night text messages on thu just to let him know about the progress on the car. his response to me was "go home & get some rest" lol.

i returned to the shop fri morning & handed the car over to johnny & humberto. they gave the car a nice hand wash & made sure to clean all crevaces with soft boars hair brushes to loosen & remove the caked up compound form the night before. we dryed & taped up the car for a second time to prepare for the machine polishing stage.

johnny followed behind me with the halogen lighting. he gave me a second set of eyes to inspect the clear coat to make sure after polishing that all swirls were gone & no buffer trails or holograms were present after polishing. once that was done humberto wiped down the panel with a fresh micro fiber towel that was dipped in a bucket of water that had 2 caps of ardex hydro gloss mixed in & then squeezed till it was damp. we work on the car one section at a time. once the fender is glassed out we move onto the drivers door, the rear door & etc...

humberto would be a third set of eyes to look over the work. basically if my eyes miss something one of them will double & triple check the work. this makes sure that i dont miss an inch of the car.

a few sections behind me johnny started to apply the first layer of protection, 1Z Einszett Glanz Wax. johnny then finished off the G with a nice coat of Collinite 915 Marque D Elegance Paste Wax. after making my way around the car, starting with the drivers fender & ending with the front bumper i then placed my Flex down on a milk crate & left the job for johnny & humberto to finish up. i was happy to be finished with my work. i could now go sit down at my desk & reply back to a few private messages from the many forums that my shop sponsors.

here is neds aka shadyg35 04 Infiniti G35 sedan 6MT Turbonetics Turboed
installed by Vinny Ten Racing. VTR is the only shop that does any performance work for the G.
ned is reppin the G-Squad hard. hes one of the few guys in the crew that actually still own a G.
Vinny, Keish & Hector moved on with different cars but ned is still having fun with his G.
The G-Squad is not all Gs anymnore. from what ned tells me they are all still very tight & attend car shows together when they can.

heres a little info on theyre club:

The G Squad Community

http://www.g35driver.com/forums/g-squad/39008-g-squad-community.html

the swirls were not that bad but he wanted the paint as close to perfection as i could possibly make it. the trunk for some reason was in the worst condition. the swirls were a lot deeper on the trunk than on the rest of the car.

here is the G:
as always, read the pad with my neat chicken scratch to find out what was done. the 2 pics to follow are of the products used. i like doing my writeups this way!

let me know if you want to plan something out.
