dont forget all sounds travel through ur chasis, u might think its the coilover but it might be the loose nut.
Couple months ago i tightened my top 17-19mm nut front left side coilover and plus adjusted the height, the car was on jack stands. After i put back the tire and went to work, i heard a bad clunking sound, almost every bump on the road made a clunking sound. i was frustrated, i checked the coilover and it was fine, then i checked my suspension if it was just another coincidence, and yes it was my top sway bar link bolt was loose, i shook it with my hand and it clunked. If you have ur car jacked up u wont notice the clunk. It needs to be on wheels to check

and for the dampening, adjust it 12 front and 10 rear and test drive it see if u like it. It will reduce the bump ride just a tad bit
