Anyone NOT affected by the bubbling dash?

If the top part of the dash is melting, it's probably not the revised version. The replacement dash I have doesn't get soft at all while the original part still will if I leave the car outside in summer.

Update for those wondering how the case is going. Nissan was able to get me kicked off the case for not being the original owner.
For those not wanting to scroll back 2 pages.
I went to buy a new Infiniti on 12-22 or 12-23-12. Asked the dealer about my current FX35 having herpes. They looked at it and told me bring it back anytime it will be fixed under warranty. Called mid January and they said sorry the warranty ended 1-4-13. They said call infiniti home office they may make exception, after 1 minute on the phone they said no. Got mad posted on Twitter and infiniti called me and again and said no. After googling I found Ben Mook and his class action lawsuit page against Infiniti. Sent an email and few days later he called, got my info and asked if I would like to give testimony. Was flown out to Missouri for the case. If you google infiniti bubble dash and look at the Kansas star result that's my dashboard. So Ben Mook and his team won that case and went forward with the Texas/Cali suit. I gave my deposition in August for 6 hours or so. They were trying to blame my herped dashboard on using cleaning products or saying I didn't take care of my car cause my services records showed I denied the dealer putting wiper blades on when they recommend.

The judge ruled in December that because I didn't buy my car from Infiniti they are not responsible for the dash issue. Which we all know is bull shit.
So the case goes forward with out me. If Ben Mook and his team win the Cali case. Then they move to the next state and so on. They lost 2 million in MO plus legal fees Cali/Texas case is going to be much more.
There is some hope that Infiniti will get tired of all the cases and extend the nation wide recall again. That is currently the only chance I have at getting my case of FX herpes fixed.

Until then I will keep bugging Infiniti with #fxherpes and posting on their twitter. I even enter my car in local cars shows with notes on it of how Infiniti treats their customers. Its sad I really like the car just hate the dash.

The same thing happened to me they told me I was one month late and when I try to call infinity customer service they told me that I never bring my car in for service check so they won't help me

Sent from my SGH-T889

They also claim they sent notices of the extension ending so no further claim can be made, But the address they had is not mine nor the original owner so no clue where it came from that that was their evidence I was notified. The original owner is a close friend so I am very confident if he got a recall notice he would have told me. Anyone care to add to their WIKI page?

In other news: Infiniti here in Canada honored my warranty beautifully, even though my dash was still almost perfect (only had minor start to the herpes since my car has always been parked inside).

I had no issues even though I am not the original owner of the vehicle (a family member is). The lesson to be learned here is that you shouldn't wait years to get an issue fixed, like honestly what did you expect, yeah sure they said bring it back anytime, but I'm pretty sure they didn't expect you to wait 3 years to get the issue fixed.

ALSO, as for the warranty notices, I was sent a notice about the issue when I bought my car. All you have to do if you buy an infiniti privately is phone Infiniti in your country and update yourself and all your information as the owner of the vehicle. Then you will receive all the letters regarding the vehicle, recalls, and information. If you buy a used infiniti from a dealer they automatically do this.

Years? in the USA we do Month-Day-Year. It was from 12-22 or 23rd to 1-15 thats 23-24 days with the dealer being closed 9 of them. Their anytime was 13-14 days with the dealer being closed 5 of them. Also during that time I had a baby in the NICU and a wife in ICU.

I was a bit busy.

As far as Infiniti knowing where to send it. Infiniti did a pre sale inspection for me so they had my info. They did all the service for the original owner so they knew were he was. Why they sent it to some random address that was not me or the original owner we have no clue and during the deposition they could not tell me how they got the address.

Wouldn't it have just been easier to type December XX, 2012. I'm sure Canada and the US both have "standards", but everyone, and every company uses something different, so just save the confusion use a proper date format like 23-Dec-13. Either way I mis-read your post, when you said Mid-January, I didn't realize mid january of the following year (as in 30 days in the future), again given this happened like years ago clarification is a good thing.

In terms of the issue with infiniti, wow that sucks for you. It's almost impossible to believe that they would stick it to you like that, My dash board replacement procedure was so easy, I went in showed them the minor bubbles, and they said "Okay we will order the parts", a few days later they emailed me with a date to bring in the car, I had to change that day cause I was away on vacation, but as soon as I got back we set a date, I took the car in and got it back with a new dash 2 days later (took an extra day because they were busy), as always no big deal to me since they gave me a service loaner to use during that period. Entire process literally didn't involve more than 30 minutes of my time, and I didn't have to do or pay anything.

No worries, assumed was just a miss communication.

Thats the way it should have been handled. Thats close to the way my parents had their dashes replaced by Lexus(rx330 and ES350). Lexus sent a letter saying if you have this issue give us a call. They called and Lexus dropped of a rental picked up their cars and then returned theirs the next day.
But it's not how Infiniti USA handled it with me and I am not alone.
If I had missed the date completely then that would be on me. I fully get that no car will look new for 7 years and 135k miles. Them saying bring it back anytime with the knowledge I only had 14 days it was has me turned against them.

happy 2016. sorry to hear about your ordeal jj. did you buy a new infiniti in 2012? the plaintiff's attorneys should have told you that you didn't have a claim in the lawsuit and not wasted your time. product liability cases are very difficult and expensive to prove in court. i once took a xxxx company to court twice and lost. the judge said it doesn't matter if the defendant made the crappiest product in the world. it'll come down to who has the most money to prove it in court. i then took their retailer to court and won easily. you probably would have a slightly better chance with the previous owner paying a small portion of the replacement cost than the dealership/infiniti paying the entire cost outside of their extended warranty. in your case, too much time has passed and the issue is only cosmetic so unfortunately it doesn't get the public attention like those involving defective ignitions and airbags. i hope you'll eventually just put this behind you...

1bad,
I ended up in a 2013 Lexus ES350, Infiniti lost a $42k sell over a 3k dashboard.
It was a class action didnt cost me money at all. The lawsuit was on their deceptive marketing and repair practices. From what I gather from the MO case that the plaintiffs won 2million(little over $2k for each owner). They sold it as premium interior, then they repaired it with bad parts.
While I was in MO to testify someone else was there with 4 dashboards in 5 years. Then when it happened a 5th time they denied the repair.

The car is now 10 years old 150k miles. As long as no big issues come up and it still looks good other then the dash I plan on keeping it for 2-3 more years. I would even pay to get the dash fixed if I knew it would last more then 2 years.

Sorry, a little off the conversation currently running about the dealerships being jerks (to which I agree)....but has anybody ever thought about dash cleaner such as armor all or other cleaners being an accelerator for the bubbles when in direct heat/sunlight exposure. For instance I have a 2003 FX45 and haven't had any bubble issues to date (cross my fingers), but I have a friend with the same year FX45 same interior color, etc. that is all bubbled up. He wipes his dash down with various cleaners religiously, but finding out about the "bubble thing" prior to buying my FX, I was so nervous to even touch it. I have only used a damp paper towel the whole time I've owned the car, and as stated earlier haven't had issues yet. Do you think that there is something to that??

Maybe that's the key. A little water, and a cloth.....NO CLEANERS. Not saying that is the cure-all, but maybe it helps. In the end, obviously Infiniti used sub-par materials those early years. They should be taking care of everyone with the issue.

Thanks for posting this information, and going to bat for your fellow FX owners. I just got off the phone with Infiniti customer service over this issue after Googling that there was an issue that went beyond just my vehicle. No joy from Infiniti. My next act of Google-fu was finding (and joining) this forum, and in particular this thread. Next stop was joining the class action with Mook.

A question, and pardon if this has been covered elsewhere, but where can I find a good dash cover to hide the ugliness until the dash is replaced?

Thanks again

Supposedly Infiniti covers it for free these days regardless of the mileage on your car (but does depend on manufacture date). I called my Salt Lake City dealer 2 days ago just to ask about it, and they said that it has now become an actual recall of sorts. Meaning, if the owner of the vehicle calls in or goes in to the dealer requesting to get the bubbled dash fixed, they will do it for free. HOWEVER, they WILL NOT send you a notification in the mail asking you to come get it done like a normal recall. I live in Utah, so just come visit and get the hook-up if your dealer is giving you the run around.....lol

Mine is a 03 RWD non-tech, my dash is cracked all over and gets sticky and reflexes on the windshield when it is parked outside during the day. However, no bubbles. I wonder if they will replace it anyways.
