Anyone NOT affected by the bubbling dash?

Still upset because my car was exported to Europe; over here they don't give this warranty!!! Very bad call of Infiniti Global, i'm not amused. Mine is a FX35 from '08, so very much within the extended warranty period. Hate them for this (and the fuel level system, everything else is excellent!).

I don't have any rust either... ha ha I take care of my fx and clean it all the time. Inside and out, up and under

You live in CT...and have an 03. No rust?? That's impossible....unless you painted your whole undercarriage lol. When I lived on the east coast some
of my friends did this on Mustangs with good results.

Nothings ever impossible, just have to be very persistent and undercoating helps a lot as well. I'm 41 years old and have always done this to all my cars. I also have a 2004 grand prix gt no rust a 1996 Acura cl with no rust and a 1999 Olds intrigue with no rust. Just bought a 2011 camry and plan on keeping that rust free as well. I also don't stick to driving one car during the winter which helps cut down on the road salt.

Nice...looks like you have a good method. When I lived in NJ...I used to have a 1996 grand prix GTP....and swapped in the 3.8L Supercharged engine from a 2000 GTP...it was a beast but that thing was all over the place in the snow there lol. I actually shipped it here to Cali then sold it before I bought the FX.

Ha ha ha I put on some blizzaks on the grand prix and drive it. My dad did and still does body work on cars and he always taught me how to keep a car clean and prevent rust. I try hard no lie on one of my birthdays I took the bumpers off too get the dirt from behind them then proceeded to clean the engine bay with a toothbrush, my wife which was my girlfriend at the time said I was crazy... now she always comes to me to clean her car, go figure.

I don't have the bubble, but a couple years ago my garage torsion spring went out.. And now my dad makes that space a storage center.

Now, my FX stays outside and what I've noticed is, although there are no bubbles, the dash becomes REALLY sticky. Forget using a Sun Shade.. Because the bottom of the shade STICKS to the dash... So I'm just stuck.

^^^^ I'm having the same damn issue. My dash is like a sticky trap for bugs. Cant even touch it or else it stains anything you put on it.

That is something that impacts Nissan models as well - the dash basically melts in the heat and gets sticky and shiny. I actually saw it on the local news a couple of years back where someone was complaining about his Altima. His dash was really sticky and so shiny in summer that it reflected off his windshield; it really looked like it was melting. I believe he complained to Nissan and the NHTSA, but it wasn't a common enough problem for them to do anything but say they're monitoring it. I just googled it and it looks like there are a couple of class action lawsuits on this as well.

BTW, isn't a garage door spring a relatively cheap fix? A long time ago, the one at my parents house went out and they had to replace it, don't remember the cost, but it wasn't crazy. Maybe cheaper than a dash replacement...not that it helps you now unfortunately.

It seems its a combination of heat and humidity. The temp never has gotten over 94 degrees in summer here and doesn't even get to the 90s often even in the middle of summer but the humidity can be quite oppressive. My dash has literally melted in a few places and has bubbles all over it. If my pants touch the dash by the center console while getting in my car after it's been sitting outside all day it'll leave black stuff on my clothes. My car sits outside in the sun all day but I have a window shade up and ceramic tint on all windows including the windshield to block UV. When I remove the shade at night it sticks to the dash and must be peeled off. Lol. My dash was replaced by the original owner in '08 I think but it was replaced with the same material dash, before the new one was available. I talked to them in '10 about replacing it again and they eventually agreed to replace it for a second time but after seeing the new style material I decided to keep my bubbled dash and cover it with a dash cover cause the new one is more of a grey and doesn't match anything else in the interior and feels rather cheap. It reminds me of the hard plastic dash of my old Dodge Magnum. Not very luxurious at all.

Yes I've read on a few posts here that the replacement dashes look much cheaper than the stock original dashes....the material is cheaper and
not as nice or luxurious as the originals. That's why I hope to keep my stock dash as long as possible....but when I need to have it redone just have
it professionally re-upholstered.

Hmm, my replacement dash looks EXACTLY as the old one did and I did not notice any drop in quality either.

When did you get yours replaced? Is it possible you got one of the original dashes before they changed materials? From what I've heard the
second version dashes that were made to correct the bubbling issue are a different material.

Mine was replaced in 2011 and it's a different material. It's a lighter color and the texture is slightly rough, more plastic. It's as if they made the top part one solid piece instead of having glue and a cover. This is only the uppermost part, the rest of the dash looks the same.

Not sure if mine was replaced or not, but it's kinda melting under the FL sun here, never seen anything like that before. I accidentally left something on the dash and now the dash has some damage.
