Fuel Gauge Reads "Empty" After Filling Tank

ITB12075:

IF YOU CONFIRM: An applied vehicle has a fuel gauge that registers "empty" after the fuel tank has been filled up full. ACTION: 1. Remove the main fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter, and fuel pump assembly (fuel pump module). 2. Remove the spring from the fuel pump module just removed. 3. Install the spring onto the new fuel pump module. -- With the spring installed, the new fuel pump module will have two (2) springs. 4. Install the new fuel pump module into the vehicle. --For repairs, refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE. See this bulletin for further detail.

Damn, nearly a decade later and Infinti still can not give the FX a functioning gas gauge. This has been a problem since the FX came off the line in 2003. Hopefully the 2013 models will not have this issue. Very disappointing.:bad:

(*&^%$ mine started acting up last night after I filled up. - finished filling, got in, and it said "0 miles" and the gauge was on E - then I drove a bit and it jumped up to a 1/4 of a tank.
reset the ECU (maybe itll do something) and will check it out after class. Of course this would happen to me with finals coming up -__-

yup, seen this before on 2nd gen. this bulletin is about replacing the fuel pump assembly and putting new one in their, BUT the new pump only have 1 spring to push down the pump in the buttom, so technician will re-use the old spring from the old pump to put in the new pump.

bottom line on this. putting new pump and adding the old spring to make the assembly flat in the bottom. they will not supply new spring,

this happened to me last week. I filled up, i started driving and my gas light was on.. but as i drove, it went up at a slow pace.

happened to me, went in for service - nothing wrong, it just got confused prob due to overfilling --- over extends the float then the computer gets confused - reset the code, drove for a day, it cleared.

This just happened to me tonight. I had just pulled into the movie theater to see Gravity (excellent movie by the way) and i look down and it says 0 miles. I panic because I had only driven 238 miles on that tank so far and I usually get anywhere from 350-400 miles/tank. So, after the movie, I head directly to the gas station and I fill it up with 13.326 gallons. That's when I realized something was wrong.

I've got 42,770mi on my '11 FX35, and I believe I'm out of warranty. With this TSB, is that something that i'm going to have to pay Infiniti to fix or will they pay for it? I'm not really sure how TSB's work.

Had the vehicle 4mo now and this happened to me tonight... fortunately my friend who's dad works for Nissan/Infiniti Corp looked into this for me right away, checked my VIN and found a TSB that covers this issue, plus I have the Platinum warranty, so I'm going in on Monday to have this fixed... maybe I will get a Q50 as a loaner, lol!
