2003-2008 FX In Cabin Filter Change

Update:

I finally changed to the Fram Freshbreeze filter today and I can say that it fits much more snug then the Filter Master I had. it does come with 2 foam strips for the side of the filter.
the Filter master seems like it would pass air around the sides.

Thanks for the sharing -I'm gonna do mine soon

Quick question: What happens if we "DID" disconnect the air-bag yellow wire and recoonect it?? Would it not work properly ever since the disconnection??

My Friend was own QX56 and he said the QX56 has 2 Cabin Filter but We(FX) just need one right ?
Hey Alan is there possible can you send the link where you bought the Freshbreeze filter From ? eBay ? Amazon ? or

I believe that the link/pic is in the #1 post in this thread - Amazon. right?

My GS cabin filter is inside the glove box just like the FX... THe FX filter seems to be more hidden with a little more parts to remove.. Nonetheless a great DIY..

Great thread

That really is quite a comprehensive write up. Makes the whole filter change look fairly simple. Now if only I can find that great of a write up for my block heater installation. Thanks !

Way Helpful How To

This is a great thread, it makes changing the cabin filter a piece of cake. Some of the other how-to's on the net include the illustrations from the manual which aren't helpful at all. By the way if you use the Fram filter they include some thin foam with adhesive backing that can be affixed to the sides of the filter. On mine it made for a snug fit (less un filtered air getting by the filter and the filter will also stay up by itself when you close the hatch. Thanks for the write up, William

Nice write up!
Changed mine couple of day's ago with the laptop close to check pictures.
Altough mine was installed since there was no filter in there in the first place:confused:
Got mine from the local Nissan dealer, OEM part 16546-3J400.
This also came with 2 foam strips you have to stick on but after it fits like a glove!!

Thanks for the fantastic write up! I just finished the filter change about 10 minutes ago and I'm happy to report that my A/C no longer smells like a pile of sweaty socks.

thread revival with a question.

Ultimate way to keep your FX smelling like your favorite air freshner?

Couldn't you somehow attach the air freshner inside that duct in such a way that the air passing through would contain the smell of it aka it would come through the AC with the air? I think that would be pretty awesome.... Either that or putting it in the duct in another palce that isnt ON the filter... any thoughts?

i'm sure it will work but the question would be how often do you have to change the air freshener? If a dead animal in the vents is enough to make your car smell like crap the opposite should be possible too :wink (2):

Well Im saing hypothetically, if I took the brick of the squash air freshner and ziptied it to the inside of the bracket on the inside AFTER the filter, do you think it would go thorugh the system and produce squash air freshner-smelling air?

or do you think that would be TOO MUCH

regarding the smell I've seen how mechanic was changing a filter and before putting it in he had sprayed it all over with perfume :smile (2):
