I like the boxes cause they mostly direct cool air to the filter & block out hot air in a way no little heat shield can, but the box muffles the sound a bit, which is why the filter just stuck in the engine compartment is louder...

Where can I find an extension piece like yours? I have a similar set-up and the Pop charger comes up way short.
I dont have any extension piece :squigglemouth: thats just how it was when i installed it. the JWT filter connects to the stock MAF housing which is connected to my LMS ztube...

the AFE looks cool, but ive never heard of the brand before. which one did you end up ordering?

HP will probably be a couple HP...probably not noticable but you will "hear" the difference lol....our stock system isnt that bad.

Ended up ordering the AFE. Can't wait to get it.

I have the same tube as fxlr8, does the stillen powerduct just bolt on to it? Jbaker has a different set-up, he still has the "accordion" piece attached. Will either set up work?

No, it will not easily bolt up, I ended up using the filter that came with the lms tube plus a small attachment.

all I got was the tube itself, no filter. Can you send me some pics or details of what I need to do in case I wanna change it to an actual cone? I like my set up now, but just in case ..

It is pretty simple.

It is connected like this: Throttlebody-Silicone-LMS Tube-Silicone-Stillen Shield-Extension-LMS Filter.

I would only do it this way if you can find the parts used, since both pieces (stillen & LMS) are pretty expensive.

I am thinking of doing a few simple modifications to my car. If I do not care about additional noise (actually wish the FX was quieter), would the Stillen air box plus Z-tube be a waste of money? Is there any real benefit be it better mileage, performance, etc., or will it just be slightly louder than the stock system?

Definitely not, probably one of the better "bang for the buck" applications out there. The stock paper filter is much more restrictive than the cotton element, and the stock intake tube has sound baffling that disturbs the airflow in an effort to keep it quiet. Reducing the resistance and turbulence of the air flow will result in an increase in your mileage and straight line performance... noise is the inevitable byproduct of the effect. However, this result is apparent in different areas of the power band depending on your setup.

How did it go with the install, do u recommend the product? Likes or dislikes? any pics?

Did not install the AFE...

AFE sells the G35 intake as if it's for the FX35. Wrong fitment. So exchanged it for the Stillen and I am happy with it.

intake tube

you have the stillen cold intake air, but your z-tube is totally diferent? also mine do not include the tip at the end of the filter that use two plastic bolt.

The stillen with the powerduct is one of the best intakes as far as I am concerned... Fujita just throws the filter where all the hot engine air is, utr is just a z-tube (I think). JWT is a semi shielded filter like the AFE Magna force.

I would stick with either the AFE magna force since it is a one piece with a integrated maf flange (plus heat shield) or get the original stillen with the attached powerduct which uses a cone filter and a velocity stack.

Here is my Stillen with an LMS tube
