Osram CBI 5000K D2S HID Bulbs (The next big thing?)

Hahaha, I thought you are not spending any money on mods anymore! We have to do a side-by-side comparison on that.

I have Philips Ultinons 6000K , light output is not the best but I do love the 6K color they put out, perfect match for my 6K Morimoto fogs. Osram bulbs have amazing lumen output but I don't like the color. Friend of mine put them on his G37 and even after the "burn in" they still look yellowish and they blind me when I see him driving towards me at night. Just my 2 cents

It seems as if most folks like the 5000k output and these Osram's are the best if that's what one prefers !!! I'm still a big fan of the 6000k look and think I'll be trying the Garax 6K soon :smile (2): If I'm switching out my bulbs I want to be sure it's a noticeable difference !!

Dont know what you mean by the lights being blinding. They look exactly like stock in terms of being "blinding" from head on. You notice the light output difference when sitting in the driver seat. I also have auto leveling headlights so blinding others is not a concern since it auto levels on inclines and declines to prevent that.

I forget where I posted it but I warned you guys that like the 6K look won't like the CBI bulbs because it's just pure white. No yellow or blue at all in these bulbs. I told you that before you bought them and wasted money lol. I had 6K before and didn't like it because of the hint of blue to them. It looks too aftermarket for my tastes and the light output suffered dramatically. The 6K doesn't overpower street lights on the road or work well in wet weather. And like I said before these bulbs aren't yellow. Its our crappy projector lens. Research the CBI bulbs on HID planet with people that have clear lens installed into their headlights. BIG difference! Even when I had 6K it still looked yellow on the horizon of the cutoff line up against a wall.

Here is an update on mine maybe with like 250+ hours on mine. I lost count but it probably even more than that. I drive with my headlights on in the daytime too cause I put a sticker over the auto on headlight sensor on the dash. These bulbs keep getting whiter and whiter past break in. It's kind of an intense white. Here they are on a back road without foglights on (notice how they overpower the street lights):

Again this is my opinion only. If you like 6K then stick with 6K. Otherwise don't waste money on these bulbs and buy them to be disapointed because it's a costly mistake for a $200 set of bulbs :bad:

I also like to note that they are even brighter than in that picture when sitting in the driver seat. I have a tinted windshield so that cuts down on some light output. One of the reasons not to have a tinted windshield lol.

I should take a pic with my camera out the glass so the tint isn't filtering out the light in my picture. They are even brighter than that lol.

Fire has described these bulbs to a tee.. I have these bulbs in the 1st Gen (will post pics once I get past these 10 posts) and love them. Pure white no hint of blue or yellow imo.

I've also been very happy with these bulbs. The last time I had the FX in for service, the techs wanted to know what bulbs I had installed as they were impressed with the output.

Aaron, you hit the mark on your description and also this "It looks too aftermarket for my tastes and the light output suffered dramatically." when describing the 6k bulbs. That's exactly how I feel.

Every time I pass or see a car that has a little bit of blue in their headlights, I see a ford edge, a 2005 buick, then a 2005 cadillac, then a chevy blazer, etc. It's never a high end luxury car. It's the new thing that people are doing to their cars to stand out, so anytime I associate some blue headlights I think lower quality car.

The pure white to me screams luxury and high quality, no messing around and no aftermarket even though it is luxury and as you mentioned in the past, these are the bulbs in the very high end mercedes, etc.

In fact, my city lights right now are looking too blue to me and I kind of want to switch the vleds in the city lights with maybe something else to give a more white look. The city lights are looking too "aftermarket" for me right now. Any recommendations?

what did you put over the sensor? Electrical tape? That's a great idea! I just kept turning them off and on all the time. The censor is right in the middle past the center bose speaker right?

Same here I have these and love them its really is an upgrade from the stock bulbs, at first they have a little bit of yellow to them but after a while the yellow goes away...soon ill be upgrading my city lights to something that matches better and getting clear lenses.

Oh and I cover my headlight sensors as well ... Auto on and off headlights.

I've installed the bulbs for about 4 days now and so far it is definitely whiter than stock without any decrease in lumen output that I can detect. I have 6000k on my Bimmer and there is a definite decrease in output and I know its not a straight comparison but I just was not comfortable with the output issue. The purchase of the Osram was well worth the money however, it seems like I have an issue witht the driver side projector on my FX. It seems that the driver side one is not moving when I'm turning. I tried reseating the bulb thinking it may just be that issue but after several tries the projector is still not moving. Any of you guys run into this issue. I just dont want to take it to the delear just in case its something simple fix I can do myself.

^ make sure you are testing when you are driving above 20 mph....when driving very very slow (or stopped) only the passenger side turns.

Hey guys, I recently bought a pair of these CBI's and popped them in. First time they ignited, they went from blue to purple to yellow...after a few hours put on them i'm starting to see them colorshift. The hours i put on them now are around 15. They have a violet hue to them, very light but no yellow at this point...I know its weird, they're supposed to colorshift around 50 hours, but I guess these are the early stages. Everything on the road is white as it is, but i can imagine when they mature.

Now I need to match my fogs though Osram doesn't make H8 in HID CBI's

which HID kit for the fogs would best match with the osram CBI?

would morimoto 35w 5000k match?

thanks la_fx35,
there's two options for the relays on the TRS.com. HD relay and Canbus. Which would I need?
