Osram CBI 5000K D2S HID Bulbs (The next big thing?)

Got mine on for two days with two hours of burn. Only 58 more hours to get the optimal white color! Its hard to take the yellow color, especially coming from 6000K. So, to speed up the burn-in, I turn on the headlights during the day :smile (2):

Andy I didn't know you were a fan of the 6k. Your fogs are 6k too?

Mine came in today and I gave it to Kim and said here you go....part of my christmas present. :)

You mean the harness that goes to the battery?? In that case yeah. It also eliminates any kind of flickering. Not that they flicker though.

I'm have been running with Osram CBI 5000K for over 60 hours on my stock headlights (no clear lens). I miss the color of a 6000K bulb and switched back my DDM 6000K. I don't like the color as I look out from the driver seat. If you stand in front of the 5000K from about 20 - 25 feet away, the color looks white, but from behind the drive seat, there's just too much yellow to my liking comparing to 6000K. One other thing I notice was the the Osram CBI do have a sharper cut of line then the DDM 6000K.

Here is a pic of a fresh new Osram CBI 5000K to a 60 hours burnt-in Osram CBI 5000K about 20 -25 feet away. It may not be a good comparison as the two headlights are not the same, but it gives you an idea about the burnt-in. Please ignore the yellowish in the fog. Not sure why it comes out that way.

Andy, next time we meet up we should do another shot just like that to compare osram burned in now and ddm.

by the way, the osram box says "up to 5,500k". So you will get at least 5k out of it and up to 5,5k, but not as blue as 6k.

Yeah, Andrew did pointed out that your bulbs saids up to 5,500K on the box while my said 5000K. Is there a "new version"?

no idea, but I did hear from Aaron there are a lot of "fake" osrams sold...on amazon, etc. I bought mine at retrofitsource and I believe you did as well right and that is from what I hear a very reputable place. That might be a question for retrofit source. when did you buy yours because I bought mine in Dec 2012.

Yep, bought mine from Retrofitsource during the Thanksgiving sales :smile (2):

I ordered these bulbs a few days ago and hope to get it sometime this week. The stock HIDs are too yellow for me but I don't want to sacrifice the projection specs either. I think this will be a good compromise between color and light(lumen)output. Can't wait to get these installed.

Nice, where are you from in the Central Valley?

@ Dxtreme1, I think you'll like it more if you have not driven with 6000K. I had a set of these bulbs for about 70 hours, so it went pass it burn in period. I found myself keep comparing the color to the 6000K bulbs. I personally like the color from 6000K more. I opted to by a new set of Garax 6000K to replace the 5000K CBI.

Andy nice that you joined the garax club, true to color 6000k straight from Japan. Doesn't get better than that, how do you like them so far? I have had the garax bulbs on my fx for year now and love them and I have had them on my Lexus is300 for over 5 years now no problems.

Loving it, Rip. A much fresher color comparing to the tired 6000K that I had on before I got the Garax on.

You were running those crummy DDM bulbs before, right? Do you like Garax better than Morimoto? Maybe I can switch over to Garax if you convince me enough.
