The Random Question Thread

If you don't want to venture down to Chicago for programming. You need to have your own usb cable to download maps. I'm sure once you buy the cable from Aaron from Unichip, he'll help you out with the software.

I really want to do the Chicago meet anyway, so I won't mind to program the unichip, if possible:wink (2):

Is it the Q version? You need the license if you want to tune yourself. If you just want a standard tune to roll with, you can use the free version of the software for long enough to load it. As for getting the maps, I'm sure one of the nice members here can hook you up........ ;)
Yep it's Q version
PS TCHUCK, did you wire the 350Z unichip to your car, right? If so, what exactly needs to be changed? Let me know

Anyone know where I can get a set of outer plastic covers (lens?) for the 1st gen headlights? I just need the plastic, have a set o lights but the were VHT'd and are very hazy. Thanks

I did. All of the ecu pin locations you need are the same between the 350z and FX, but almost all the wire colors are different. Do the install as if you were color blind and you'll be fine.

anyone here have a first gen with painted yellow calipers and stock rims? ?? would love to see it!

Is there any iPod aftermarket system for 1st gens where it can charge your iPod and displays the info on the screen AS WELL AS full control of the iPod?

I had a G25 as a loaner car and it had the AUX/MP3. So I plug my iPod using the sync cable. Everything was good except the fact that the iPod was locked and you could only select songs/playlists/artists via steering wheel or console. The problem with that is I have +3,200 songs and the scrolling with the Infiniti sucks lol it took my about a minute to get to the C's in artist names.

Johnmax over at the Org discovered a hack that lets you use the click wheel on the old school ipods. I still use this method on my old click wheel ipod. Don't know if it is possible with the new touch screen ones.

Got an update here folks! So far Its been tested on my 80gig video.

1- Take your ipod, and make sure its on.
2- Plug it in to the FX gateway.
3- Immediately hold the play/pause button on the Ipod until it goes to sleep (a couple of seconds).
4- Then press the menu button on the Ipod. It will wake up, and still be under the radio's control, but you now can scroll thru the ipod and play whatever you want! Plus the song up/down on the radio still advances songs!

Why in the world did my clock light stop working (about 4 months) and now today its working again?

Maybe the bulb or a wire giggled loose?

EDIT: that's supposed to be "jiggle" or "wiggle". "Giggled Loose" is the name of a comedy show at the Bunny Ranch. :eek.:

Serious question about chrome tail lights.

Is it me or are there some tail lights that are a very dark chrome color?
I saw two black FX's today with chrome tail lights, it was almost as if they open the tail lights and they sprayed it black.

It's all about the lighting. There was a recent ebay ad from a dealer that showed a set of tails that looked blacked out, but they were just normal smoke chrome. Also, turbo discovered that the dark chrome has variations depending on the manufacturing process. He had two side by side and there was a clear difference in the darkness.

Oh wow, that's interesting! I hope when I pull the trigger on a set of chromes, I get a really dark chrome.

Another question.. lol

I'm about to pull the trigger on a DDM Raptor Kit HID from their website.
I've researched on other forums and heard bad things about them, would it be wise to order my HID kit for my fogs from this website?

I've always heard to stay away from DDM if possible. Then again, I have no personal experience myself so this is still all hearsay.
